PolicyLab at Ray Helfer Society Annual Meeting

Joanne Wood, MD, MSHP presented her work at the Ray Helfer Society Annual Meeting from April 3-6, 2011 at Amelia, Florida. Her presentations focused on child maltreatment among poisoning victims, trends in physical abuse during the recent recession, and the relationship between unemployment rates and child abuse in Pennsylvania.

PolicyLab at Pediatric Academic Societies

PolicyLab is excited that many of our projects will be featured in panel and poster presentations at the upcoming Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting from April 30 to May 3, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. PolicyLab’s team will share their research on a range of topics including child abuse during the recession, the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections in adolescents, the effectiveness of developmental screening, educational success among children in foster care, and the impact of shared decision making. University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine’s Research Retreat

PolicyLab’s Chris Feudtner is a lead organizer for The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine’s Research Retreat on April 19, 2011 from 8:30am to 4:00pm at Houston Hall, 3417 Spruce Street on UPenn’s campus. The event will include panelists focusing on challenges of communication, decision-making, and surrogate decision-making, and will highlight the ongoing research of junior faculty, fellows, and graduate students. PolicyLab at New Jersey Hospital Association’s Conference

On March 2, 2011, PolicyLab's David Rubin was one of the featured presenters at the New Jersey Hospital Association’s conference, “Medical Home II:  Hospitals & Community Practices Joining to Transform Care in their Communities.” His presentation focused on medical homes and accountable care from a pediatric perspective, and highlighted several initiatives aimed at enhancing care across the CHOP network.

PolicyLab at DE General Assembly’s Kids Caucus

PolicyLab’s Katherine Sell and Sarah Zlotnik will be presenting on the impact of the recession on child well-being at the Delaware General Assembly’s Kids Caucus on April 14, 2011. The Kids Caucus is a bi-partisan group of legislators in Delaware’s House and Senate committed to addressing issues that affect the youngest and most vulnerable members of our society.
