SMART@Home Feasibility Trial
Recruiting
The proposed research addresses the limitations or lack of a digital platform to provide remote care of medically complex patients. Previous attempts have had poor clinical validity and suffered lack of patient engagement. The study team will deconstruct the previously implemented SMART platforms to create a roadmap, platform, and template to guide clinicians to create new tools.
Results from Phase 1 of this project highlighted the need for connectivity between the SMART@Home app and Bluetooth-... Read More

A Study of Vedolizumab in Adults With Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease in the Community Setting
Recruiting
Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn's Disease (CD) are long-term conditions in the gut that can cause diarrhea, swelling (inflammation), bleeding from the anus, and belly pain. The main aim of this study is to check for how many participants with UC and CD signs and symptoms disappear after 3.5 months (14 weeks) of treatment with Vedolizumab (this is called remission).
Participants will be treated with Vedolizumab for approximately 1 year (50 weeks). During the first 1.5 months (6 weeks), partici... Read More

Mirikizumab Real World Protocol
Recruiting
The goal of this observational study is to learn about how effective mirikizumab (Omvoh) is when treating patients with ulcerative colitis (UC)
Does mirikizumab (Omvoh) lead to a reduction in symptoms at intervals throughout one year?
Participants being prescribed mirikizumab (Omvoh) as part of their regular medical care for UC will answer online survey questions about their bowel habits for 1 year.

Physical Activity and Percussive Massage Therapy for Reducing Pain in Older Women
Recruiting
Over 60% of women aged 65 and older suffer from pain, yet this group is underrepresented in research. Physical activity and percussive massage therapy may help manage pain, but both require consistent engagement, making long-term participation challenging for most people. Self-monitoring could improve adherence to these pain management efforts, but the optimal strategies for self-monitoring remain unknown.
This is a a 2x2 factorial randomized controlled trial in older women (N = 108) to determi... Read More

Natural History of Thyroid Function Disorders
Recruiting
Participants in this study will be patients diagnosed with or suspected to have a thyroid function disorder. These conditions may include: hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid hormone resistance, Graves' Dermopathy, and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) secreting pituitary adenomas.
The main purpose of this study is to further understand the natural history, clinical presentation, and genetics of thyroid function disorders. Many of the tests performed are in the context of standard medical... Read More

Improving White Blood Cell Collection From Healthy Donors
Recruiting
Background:
- White blood cells called granulocytes help the body fight infection. People who have had chemotherapy or bone marrow transplants may have very low numbers of these cells. Transfusions of these cells can help improve the body's ability to fight infection. However, most of the cells are located in the bone marrow or spleen, and are hard to collect from healthy donors. Two drugs, filgrastim and dexamethasone, can help move the cells to the bloodstream to be collected by apheresis. Re... Read More

Metarrestin (ML-246) in Subjects With Metastatic Solid Tumors
Recruiting
Background:
Metastasis is the spread of cancer from one organ to a nonadjacent organ. It causes 90% of cancer deaths. No treatment specifically prevents or reduces metastasis. Researchers hope a new drug can help. It stops cancer cells from growing and spreading further and possibly shrink cancer lesions in distant organs.
Objective:
To find a safe dose of metarrestin and to see if this dose shrinks tumors.
Eligibility:
Adults age 18 and older with pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, or a sol... Read More

Transcranial Electric Stimulation Therapy (TEST) for Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD)
Recruiting
Background:
People with TRD are often helped by electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). But ECT can affect memory and thinking. Researchers want to study a treatment called TEST that uses less electricity.
Objective:
To study the safety and feasibility of TEST and assess its antidepressant effects.
Eligibility:
Adults aged 25-64 with major depression that has not been relieved by current treatments.

Evaluating the Genetics and Immunology of Periodic Fever, Aphthous Stomatitis, Pharyngitis, and Cervical Adenitis (PFAPA) Syndrome and Other Tonsil Disorders
Recruiting
Background:
Periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis, and cervical adenitis (PFAPA) is the most common periodic fever syndrome of childhood. Symptoms can include swelling of the glands in the throat, mouth ulcers, and tonsillitis. Removal of the tonsils can stop the periodic flareups. But researchers do not know how PFAPA develops. In this natural history study, researchers will collect specimens and data from people with PFAPA to see what they might have in common.
Objective:
To coll... Read More

Study of Intralesional Cemiplimab in Adult Patients With Early Stage Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Recruiting
This study will test a study drug called cemiplimab to see if it can help treat early-stage cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC), a type of skin cancer. Cemiplimab works by helping the immune system to kill cancer cells. It binds to a protein called programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) on the surface of certain immune cells.
The main purpose of this study is to compare how well cemiplimab works compared to surgery, when injected into the lesion.
The study is looking at:

A Study to Test Whether BI 771716 Helps People With an Advanced Form of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Called Geographic Atrophy
Recruiting
This study is open to people 50 years or older with an eye condition called geographic atrophy. The purpose of this study is to compare a medicine called BI 771716 with a medicine called pegcetacoplan. BI 771716 is being developed to treat people with geographic atrophy. Pegcetacoplan is a medicine already used to treat people with geographic atrophy.
In this study, participants receive either BI 771716 or pegcetacoplan as injections in the eye.
