Mitochondrial Derived Reactive Oxygen Species on Cardiovascular Health in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Recruiting
Cardiovascular health is a critical problem in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Existing literature suggests oxidative stress from the mitochondria c driving some of the poor health outcomes in COPD. MitoQ is a mitochondrial-targeted antioxidant that has shown promise in improving cardiovascular outcomes in similar populations. Thus the purpose of this study is to test if MitoQ can improve cardiovascular health in COPD.

Understanding the Impact of Cartridge-Based Electronic Cigarettes and Generated Aerosols on Cardiopulmonary Health
Recruiting
Over the last decade, e-cigarettes have become increasingly popular, due to their promotion as a healthy alternative to traditional tobacco cigarettes. However, there are large discrepancies of knowledge in understanding how these e-cigarettes affect the user's health. The overall goal of this study is to evaluate the impact of e-cigarettes usage on user's cardiopulmonary health

Early Detection of Breast Cancer in Women With Suspicious Mammograms
Recruiting
This is a non-treatment study. It will not involve the use of any investigational drug or device. Potential participants will be enrolled through direct contact with collaborating clinical sites when the patient's annual 3D mammogram report yields a BIRADS rating of 4-5. The clinical Investigators or a member of their staff will conduct consent discussion once a suspicious mammogram report is identified or if a patient is referred for imaging of a suspicious area in the breast. After consenting... Read More

Theta Burst TMS for Treatment of Methamphetamine Use Disorder
Recruiting
This study is using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) to determine if interventional psychiatry treatment can help with the treatment of Methamphetamine Use Disorder. Individuals with Methamphetamine Use Disorder will receive 5 consecutive TMS treatment sessions based off of randomization. Participants will be randomized to one of two groups. TMS treatment arm or sham-TMS arm.

Effect of Dapagliflozin on Microvascular Function in Women With Symptoms of Coronary Artery Disease
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to test the effects of a drug (in the drug class called sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors) in women who have symptoms of ischemic heart disease. The main questions the study aims to answer are: Does blood flow in the heart improve with study drug? Participants will be randomly assigned to a 12-week course of the study drug, dapagliflozin 10mg, or placebo. Blood flow in the heart will be assessed using stress cardiac magnetic resonance imaging at basel... Read More

Focused Ultrasound and Gemcitabine in Breast Cancer
Recruiting
This study will test the use of focused ultrasound ablation, low-dose gemcitabine (a chemotherapy) and the combination of focused ultrasound ablation plus low-dose gemcitabine in patients with early-stage breast cancers. We will be testing the effects of each of these regimens on cells in the immune system. We hypothesize that the combination of focused ultrasound ablation and gemcitabine will decrease myeloid-derived suppressor cells and will increase T cell activity. We also hypothesize that f... Study of Hepatitis Eradication Receiving Protease Inhibitor Administration
Recruiting
This is a prospective, non-blinded cohort study that will assess the safety, tolerability, and antiviral efficacy of glecaprevir/pibrentasivir therapy given post-discharge to HCV-negative recipients of HCV infected donors. Patients who meet entry criteria will be enrolled while on the transplant waitlist. At the time of transplant, some donors will be HCV positive / NAT positive and some will not be infected. Enrolled patients who receive an HCV negative donor will serve as contemporaneous contr... Read More

The Abuse Liability of a Novel Heated Tobacco Product (IQOS) and Its Feasibility as a Menthol Cigarette Substitute
Recruiting
This project examines the influence of flavor availability on switching to an MRTP known as IQOS, part of the Heated Tobacco Product (HTP) class, among menthol smokers using clinical lab and naturalistic evaluations of abuse liability. Results will help federal regulators predict the public health impact on menthol cigarette smokers of policies restricting access to menthol-flavored HTPs.

Improving Transition Care for Adolescents and Young Adults With Type 1 Diabetes
Recruiting
The purpose of this research study is to evaluate a transition preparation program designed for adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with type 1 diabetes (T1D). This transition program will support AYAs as they prepare to transition from pediatric to adult endocrinology medical care and will also include a caregiver. Results from this study will inform clinical recommendations regarding self-management best practices for AYAs with T1D prior to transitioning to adult medical care.

Recruiting
This is a randomized controlled multi center study on diabetic patients with the aim of evaluating the efficacy of the adipose tissue processed with the SyntrFuge™ system in diabetic patients with diabetic foot ulcers. In particular, it will be evaluated whether the microsized fat graft will be able to shorten the healing times of these wounds. Patients will be randomized to the treatment group with adipose tissue processed with the SyntrFuge™ system (injection of autologous microsized adipose t... Read More

Highly Processed Foods and Vascular Health
Recruiting
Age is the primary risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and age-related vascular dysfunction is considered the key process linking the two. Middle age is a particularly vulnerable period when risk factors exceed diagnostic thresholds and clinical expression of CVD first becomes evident. Ultra-processed foods (UPF) comprise almost 60% of total energy in the standard American diet. The results of observational studies suggest that UPF consumption increases CVD risk, independent of overall... Read More
