Renal Denervation + PVI vs PVI Alone for Persistent AF
Recruiting
Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) is the cornerstone of ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF). Increased cardiac sympathetic stimulation can facilitate AF and reduction can be accomplished by renal artery denervation (RDN). The recently completed randomized trial, ERADICATE-AF, convincingly demonstrated that RDN plus PVI resulted in a reduction in recurrent incident AF for uncontrolled hypertensives.
This is a randomized controlled pilot trial, "To Evaluate Renal Artery Denervation in Addition to... Read More

Venetoclax and a Pediatric-Inspired Regimen for the Treatment of Newly Diagnosed B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Recruiting
This phase I trial tests the safety, side effects, and best dose of venetoclax in combination with a pediatric-inspired chemotherapy regimen known as C10403 in treating patients with newly diagnosed B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Venetoclax may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking Bcl-2, a protein needed for cancer cell survival. The C10403 regimen is composed of the chemotherapy drugs cytarabine, cyclophosphamide, daunorubicin, mercaptopurine, pegaspargase, vincristine, and methotr... Read More

The Impact of COVID-19 on Maternal and Neonatal Outcomes
Recruiting
The novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection (COVID-19) has caused a worldwide pandemic. There is still much that is unknown regarding the virus, especially its effects on pregnancy, the fetus, and the neonate. This study seeks to evaluate adverse pregnancy and neonatal outcomes related to COVID-19 infection.
The FDA has authorized emergency use authorization for the SARS-CoV-2 messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. Pregnant women were excluded from the Phase III cl... Read More

A Comprehensive Clinical fMRI Software Solution to Enable Mapping of Critical Functional Networks and Cerebrovascular Reactivity in the Brain
Recruiting
Our preliminary work demonstrates that an integrated fMRI software solution, incorporating tb-fMRI, rs-fMRI, and CVR mapping, is clinically feasible and helps clinicians plan brain tumor resection. We have developed a novel automated seed selection method that can accurately map language networks from rs-fMRI. We hypothesize that our innovative approach to enhance, optimize, and validate our preliminary software and integrate it with an established fMRI platform will create robust solutions for... Brown Adipose Tissue Activity in Response to Semaglutide Administered to Obese Subjects.
Recruiting
Glucagon like peptide (GLP-1) agonists, such as liraglutide, exenatide, and semaglutide, have been increasingly used as a medication to address the current twin epidemics of diabetes and obesity. Their activities include increasing insulin production by pancreatic beta cells, improving insulin sensitivity in muscles and weight loss. The mechanisms underpinning the weight loss caused by GLP-1 agonists have not yet been fully elucidated, but brown adipose tissue (BAT) appears to play an important... Read More

Biodistribution and Pathophysiology Study of 11C-para-aminobenzoic Acid
Recruiting
The investigators will perform radionuclide PET scans in subjects with infectious diseases to assess whether radio-labeled PABA (11C-PABA) is effective for infection imaging.
Tomographic imaging can be used to evaluate disease processes deep within the body, noninvasively and relatively rapidly. The goal is to see if this imaging technique can help differentiate infections from non-infectious processes and also provide information on the causative bacterial class.

Safety of Erythropoietin and Melatonin for Very Preterm Infants With Intraventricular Hemorrhage
Recruiting
Very preterm infants are prone to numerous medical complications with lifelong impact. Amongst the most serious are significant intraventricular hemorrhage (sIVH) and the subsequent progression to posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH). Currently, the only treatment for PHH is surgery, most commonly with shunts that are prone to malfunction across the lifespan. Preclinical data show that melatonin (MLT) and erythropoietin (EPO), when administered in a sustained dosing regimen, can prevent the hallm... Read More
