A Study of Vedolizumab in Children and Teenagers With Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease
Recruiting
The main aim of this study is to learn how the body of a child or teenager with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis (UC) or Crohn's disease (CD) processes vedolizumab (pharmacokinetics) given just under the skin subcutaneously (SC). The participants will be treated with vedolizumab for up to 34 weeks. During the study, participants will visit their study clinic several times.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Ulcerative Colitis (HBOT-UC)
Recruiting
Chronic intestinal hypoxia and accompanying mucosal inflammation is a hallmark of ulcerative colitis (UC). Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) involves breathing 100% oxygen under increased atmospheric pressure to increase tissue oxygenation. Two small prospective randomized controlled trials have demonstrated that the delivery of HBOT to UC patients hospitalized for acute moderate to severe flares results in improved remission rates and avoidance of in-hospital progression to biologics, small mole... The Role of Secondary Bile Acids in Intestinal Inflammation
Recruiting
The cause of Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is unknown, but intestinal bacteria-involved in the production of molecules that impact health-are widely accepted to play a key role. A significant proportion of IBD patients with pouches (surgically created rectums after the diseased colon is removed) continue to have inflammation similar to their previous disease. Only a few microbes are known to have the capability to modify primary bile acids (PBAs) made by the liver to secondary bile acids (SB... Read More

Fermented Food-Supplemented Diet in Ulcerative Colitis
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to see how a diet that supplements fermented foods effects inflammation and quality of life in patients with mild to moderate Ulcerative Colitis (UC). There is a paucity of research and an enormous need for better understanding of diet and intestinal inflammation. Fermented food have been shown to positively influence inflammatory cytokines and intestinal microbial diversity in healthy volunteers.

A Biospecimen Collection Study to Identify the Targets of Disease-Reactive T Cells in Patients with Autoimmune Disease
Recruiting
The most clinically meaningful way to discover new targets of T cells in autoimmune diseases is to study the tissues of patients with active autoimmune disease mediated organ inflammation. These tissues contain both cytotoxic and helper T cells that are driving their disease, and these T cells are being guided by TCRs that recognize tissue-specific targets. By collecting tissue when a patient has active inflammation, it is possible to determine which T cells are activated and undergoing clonal e... Read More

Understanding Ozanimod's MOA Via Mass Cytometry in Ulcerative Colitis
Recruiting
The goal of this observational study is to learn about the mechanism of action of ozanimod in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Prospectively assess the effects of ozanimod on the cellular composition of intestinal lamina propria and blood by deep immunophenotyping (CyTOF) of immune cell subsets prior and after the drug's administration. 2. Determine whether changes in cell subsets observed via mass cytometry correlate with with clinical or hist... Read More
