Type 1 Diabetes Education and Support Study
Recruiting
Diabetes distress has been identified as one of the largest contributors to the racial disparity in glycemic control that disproportionately burdens Black patients ages 18-30 years with type 1 diabetes (T1D). In order to combat this issue, this study assesses the feasibility of the culturally tailored intervention T1DES and evaluates the effect of the T1DES intervention on diabetes outcomes in a pilot randomized clinical trial among Black young adults with T1D.

Glycemic Excursion Minimization (GEM) to Outshine Health Disparities
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to see if the GEM intervention is acceptable and helpful to Black adults with type 2 diabetes. The GEM intervention (coaching to reduce carbohydrate intake and increase physical activity after meals, with feedback from a continuous glucose monitor, CGM) might improve blood glucose levels, reduce diabetes distress, and increase empowerment and confidence in managing diabetes.

FEED-Cystic Fibrosis (FEED-CF)
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to determine the extent to which excess dietary sugars serve as a precipitating factor in glucose intolerance in adults with cystic fibrosis (CF), a population at especially high risk for a unique form of diabetes (CF-related diabetes, CFRD) and with standard-of-care dietary recommendations (high-calorie, high-fat) that conflict with recommendations for other forms of diabetes.
This trial will investigate if the typical high-sugar, high-fat CF diet plays a role in diab... Read More

Eversense® Non-adjunctive Use Post Approval Study
Recruiting
This is a non-blinded, prospective, multi-center, single arm longitudinal cohort study (patient serving as their own control), to evaluate the effectiveness of diabetes with the Eversense CGM System non-adjunctively compared to self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) using a blood glucose (BG) meter in participants with either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. Subjects will serve as their own control, with their baseline based on using SMBG to manage their diabetes for the first 6 months followed by us... Read More

TrialNet Pathway to Prevention of T1D
Recruiting
Rationale:
The accrual of data from the laboratory and from epidemiologic and prevention trials has improved the understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Genetic and immunologic factors play a key role in the development of T1DM, and characterization of the early metabolic abnormalities in T1DM is steadily increasing. However, information regarding the natural history of T1DM remains incomplete. The TrialNet Natural History Study of the Development of T... Read More

FreeStyle Libre 2 Discharge Trial
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the benefits of using aa Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system in patients with diabetes following discharge from the hospital. The main question it aims to answer is:
• If the use of CGM with alarms is safe and effective for managing low and/or high blood sugars when compared with performing finger sticks several times per day
Participants will wear one or two FreeStyle Libre CGM sensors for 12-14 days three times over a 12-week (3 month)... Read More

Recruiting
This is a proof of concept safety study of an artificial intelligence based closed loop glucose control system designed for use in the intensive care unit setting.
The type 1 and type 2 diabetic subjects in this study will have their glucose controlled to a range of 100-140 mg/dL by a novel artificial intelligence based closed loop glucose control system for a period of 24 hours. The subjects will consume three standardized meals during the 24 hour study period.

Dietary Oxysterols and β-Cell Function Among African Americans
Recruiting
African Americans (AAs) have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes than the general population. AAs are also more likely to eat foods that contain cholesterol oxides/oxysterols.
Dietary oxysterols can harm the cells that produce insulin and decrease insulin production.
This pilot study seeks to determine if removing dietary oxysterols with a plant-based diet will improve insulin production and decrease the risk of type 2 diabetes among AAs.
