Cancer Paid Clinical Trials in Missouri

The investigators proposal is ripe for executing as the investigators seek to leverage this "natural experiment" initiated by the BJC health system to evaluate the effectiveness of the Pink \& Pearl Campaign as an implementation strategy to promote lung cancer screening (LCS) uptake among LCS-eligible women undergoing mammography at BJC West County. This evaluation is grounded in the Integrated Screening Action Model that depicts individual- and environmental-level influences on the screening behavior process. Using an explanatory sequential mixed methods design, which combines both quantitative and qualitative approaches, the research questions and specific aims for this proposal are to: a) evaluate the baseline prevalence of LCS among LCS-eligible women; b) assess whether the Pink \& Pearl Campaign increases referrals and uptake/ completion of LCS among LCS-eligible women undergoing screening mammography; and c) evaluate individual and environmental factors influencing LCS uptake, and implementation outcomes of the campaign. These implementation outcomes will help identify whether the campaign was put in place successfully or not. This study evaluates cancer-related weight and muscle mass loss, symptoms, and physical function (cachexia) in patients undergoing treatment for colorectal, lung, or pancreatic cancer that cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable). Patients with these cancer types are at risk for developing cancer cachexia (CC), which is defined as weight loss, muscle loss, and fat loss due to cancer. CC has been associated with reduced physical performance, impaired quality of life, and poorer survival. Many studies that have evaluated treatments for cancer-related weight and muscle loss have aimed to treat all patients with weight loss exactly the same and, unfortunately, have not been successful. Like different cancer types, weight and muscle loss related to cancer may have different causes in different individuals and the best treatment strategy for this condition may not be a one-size-fits-all approach. Information gathered from this study may help researchers develop new diagnostic criteria for CC and design better treatments and clinical trials for cancer-related weight and muscle loss in the future to improve the quality of life in patients with advanced colorectal, lung, or pancreatic cancer. This is a subject registry study of patients who undergo cryoablation for their breast cancer after being determined not to be surgical candidates. Data collected as part of this registry will be used to assess the safety of percutaneous ultrasound-guided cryoablation in this population as well as provide long-term follow-up of subjects who received cryoablation. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the functionality of a novel endorectal photoacoustic ultrasound imaging modality in humans with rectal cancer. The study involves testing a previously developed endorectal device to determine its ability to accurately assess rectal tumor response to preoperative treatment. Investigators hypothesize that a co-registered photoacoustic ultrasound endorectal device can significantly reduce unnecessary surgeries in rectal cancer patients with complete clinical response while maintaining high sensitivity in identifying those with residual cancer. This phase II trial studies the side effects of chemotherapy and intensity modulated radiation therapy in treating patients with low-risk HIV-associated anal cancer, and nivolumab after standard of care chemotherapy and radiation therapy in treating patients with high-risk HIV-associated anal cancer. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Chemotherapy drugs, such as mitomycin, fluorouracil, and capecitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving chemotherapy with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving nivolumab after standard of care chemotherapy and radiation therapy may help reduce the risk of the tumor coming back. Read Less
