Selective Early Medical Treatment of Patent Ductus Arteriosus in Extremely Low Gestational Age Infants: A Pilot RCT
Recruiting
Background: Among preterm infants, those born at a gestational age less than 26 weeks are considered the most vulnerable with a high risk of short- and long-term health problems that include chronic lung disease, brain bleeds, gut injury, kidney failure and death. Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is the most common heart condition with almost 70% preterm infants in this gestational age group being diagnosed with a PDA. Though many PDAs spontaneously resolve on their own, research suggests that if... Read More

Muscle Recovery After Critical Illness
Recruiting
The overarching goal of the proposed study is to determine the trajectories of physical recovery and cellular markers involved with the underlying failure to recover muscle after critical illness, while exploring which characteristics are associated with sustained physical disability. This proposal will examine muscle pathophysiology carefully aligned with physical function outcomes in order to longitudinally assess the recovery, or failed recovery, of muscle function in participants after criti... Cannabis Use on Sedation for Oral Surgery Procedures
Recruiting
The use of Cannabis is increasing in the population, and the effects that this might have on different medical procedures are poorly understood. Particularly when submitted to deep sedation or general anesthesia, there is no consensus on best drugs or doses to deliver. The purpose of this clinical trial is to clarify the influence of chronic cannabis use during office based general anesthesia for extraction of teeth. The procedures will be performed in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic a... Read More

International Penile Advanced Cancer Trial (International Rare Cancers Initiative Study)
Recruiting
This is an international phase III trial, with a Bayesian design, incorporating two sequential randomisations. It efficiently examines a series of questions that routinely arise in the sequencing of treatment. The study design has evolved from lengthy international consultation that has enabled us to build consensus over which questions arise from current knowledge and practice. It will enable potential randomisation for the majority of patients with inguinal lymph node metastases and will provi... Read More

Hypo-fractionated Radiation Therapy With or Without Androgen Suppression for Intermediate Risk Prostate Cancer
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to compare the effects, good and/or bad of two treatment methods on subjects and their cancer. Proton beam radiation therapy is one of the treatments for men with prostate cancer who have localized disease. The benefit of the combination with androgen suppression is not completely understood. This study will compare the use of hypofraction proton therapy (28 treatments) alone to proton therapy with androgen suppression therapy.
