Hypertension Paid Clinical Trials in Texas

The goal of this observational patient registry is to learn how expert centers treat patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). CTEPH is a condition in which blood clots block the blood vessels in the lungs. There are currently three treatment options for patients with CTEPH: surgery to remove blood clots from large vessels in the lungs (pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA)) the use of a small balloon to unblock smaller blood vessels (balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA)) drugs Patients can also receive a combination of these treatments. The main question this registry aims to answer are: How many patients receive a given kind of treatment? How do expert centers combine the different treatments? Are patients doing better after they receive a given kind of treatment? How many patients are alive 1, 3 and 5 years after they receive a given kind of treatment? Participants will receive the same treatments that they would receive if they did not participate in the study. During the study, patients will visit their doctors as they would do normally. The doctors will collect information on the patients' health and enter it into the study database. The follow-up time will be at least 3 years for all patients. Read Less

CHRONICLE is a randomized trial assessing the comparative effectiveness of providing written visit information via the patient portal (NOTES) versus NOTES plus visit audio recording (AUDIO) to older adult patients with chronic diseases on quality of life and other outcomes. The objective of this clinical study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of NCX 470 Ophthalmic Solution in lowering intraocular pressure (IOP) in subjecs with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. Kidney failure has been recognized as one of the most costly chronic conditions among United States Veterans. Approximately 13,000 Veterans develop kidney failure each year, and most require hemodialysis initiation. Hemodialysis patients suffer significantly increased risk of death and hospitalizations, and excessive body fluid is a major cause of this. While empiric aggressive fluid removal during dialysis is one approach to limit fluid overload, this can cause dangerous decreases in blood pressure during dialysis that independently contribute to the high death rate. In this study, I aim to test a new strategy that prescribes fluid removal based on a patient's recent blood pressure patterns during dialysis. This clinical trial will compare my strategy to standard care and assess the outcomes of overall blood pressure change between dialysis treatments in addition to the number of times the blood pressure becomes dangerously low during dialysis. Almost 15% of Americans have chronic kidney disease (CKD), with an even higher rate in Veterans due to common risk factors such as high blood pressure and diabetes. People with CKD have a high risk of cardiovascular (CV) diseases, such as heart attacks, heart failure, and strokes. Extra fluid in the body, called volume overload, may lead to CV disease in people with CKD. It is unknown if volume overload develops in the earliest stages of CKD, when treating it with common, inexpensive medicines called diuretics may improve long-term CV outcomes. This study will lay important groundwork to answer this question in Veterans with early CKD by comparing two ways to measure volume overload and studying the change in common symptoms like fatigue and short-term CV function after treatment with diuretic medicines.
