Cisplatin Treatment Options in California

This phase II trial investigates how well sodium thiosulfate works in preventing ototoxicity (hearing loss/damage) in patients with squamous cell cancer of the head and neck that has spread to nearby tissue or lymph nodes (locally advanced) who are undergoing a chemoradiation. Sodium thiosulfate is a type of medication used to treat cyanide poisoning and to help lessen the side effects from cisplatin. Chemotherapy drugs, such as cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving chemotherapy with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. The purpose of this trial is to find out whether it is feasible to give sodium thiosulfate 4 hours after each cisplatin infusion along with standard of care radiation therapy in patients with head and neck cancer. Giving sodium thiosulfate after cisplatin may help decrease the risk of hearing loss. Read Less

This is a first-in-human study evaluating the anti-T cell immunoglobulin and mucin containing protein-3 (TIM-3) antibody TSR-022. The study will be conducted in 2 parts with Part 1 consisting of dose escalation and Part 2 dose expansion. Part 1 will determine the recommended Phase 2 dose (RP2D) of TSR-022 and Part 2 will evaluate the antitumor activity of TSR-022 in combination with TSR-042 or docetaxel and as monotherapy. Read Less

This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of atezolizumab with bevacizumab in combination with cisplatin and gemcitabine(CisGem), compared with atezolizumab in combination with CisGem, in participants with advanced biliary tract cancer (BTC) who have not received prior systemic therapy. Infigratinib is an oral drug which selectively binds to fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) 2 and is being developed to treat participants with FGFR2 mutated cholangiocarcinoma. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the investigational agent oral infigratinib vs standard of care chemotherapy (gemcitabine plus cisplatin) in first-line treatment of participants with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic cholangiocarcinoma with FGFR2 fusion/rearrangement. This phase III trial studies the side effects of combination chemotherapy, 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy, and an autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplant, and to see how well they work in treating young patients with atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor of the central nervous system. Giving high-dose chemotherapy before an autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplant stops the growth of cancer cells by stopping them from dividing or killing them. Giving colony-stimulating factors, such as G-CSF, helps stem cells move from the bone marrow to the blood so they can be collected and stored. Chemotherapy or radiation therapy is then given to prepare the bone marrow for the stem cell transplant.
