Cisplatin Treatment Options in Florida

Non-Squamous Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) remains a leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide, with poor survival prospects for metastatic disease. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the optimized dose, adverse events, and efficacy of livmoniplimab in combination with budigalimab plus chemotherapy versus pembrolizumab plus chemotherapy in participants with untreated metastatic non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer. Livmoniplimab is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of NSCLC. There are 2 stages to this study. In Stage 1, there are 4 treatment arms. Participants will either receive livmoniplimab (at different doses) in combination with budigalimab (another investigational drug) + chemotherapy, budigalimab +chemotherapy, or pembrolizumab +chemotherapy. In Stage 2, there are 2 treatments arms. Participants will either receive livmoniplimab (optimized dose) in combination with budigalimab +chemotherapy or placebo in combination with pembrolizumab +chemotherapy. Chemotherapy consists of IV Infused pemetrexed + IV infused cisplatin or IV infused or injected carboplatin. Approximately 840 adult participants will be enrolled in the study across 200 sites worldwide. Stage 1: In cohort 1, participants will receive intravenously (IV) infused livmoniplimab (dose A)+ IV infused budigalimab, + chemotherapy for 4 cycles followed by livmoniplimab + budigalimab + IV Infused pemetrexed. In cohort 2, participants will receive livmoniplimab (dose B) + budigalimab + chemotherapy for 4 cycles followed by livmoniplimab + budigalimab + pemetrexed. In cohort 3, participants will receive budigalimab + chemotherapy for 4 cycles followed by budigalimab + pemetrexed . In cohort 4, participants will receive IV Infused pembrolizumab + chemotherapy for 4 cycles followed by pembrolizumab + pemetrexed. Stage 2: In arm 1, participants will receive livmoniplimab (dose optimized) + budigalimab + chemotherapy for 4 cycles followed by livmoniplimab + budigalimab + pemetrexed. In arm 2, participants will receive IV Infused placebo + pembrolizumab + chemotherapy for 4 cycles followed by pembrolizumab + pemetrexed. The estimated study duration is 55 months. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. This phase I trial studies the side effects of pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) in treating patients with ovarian, uterine, appendiceal, stomach (gastric), or colorectal cancer that has spread to the lining of the abdominal cavity (peritoneal carcinomatosis). Chemotherapy drugs, such as cisplatin, doxorubicin, oxaliplatin, leucovorin, fluorouracil, mitomycin, and irinotecan, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. PIPAC is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the administration of intraperitoneal chemotherapy. The study device consists of a nebulizer (a device that turns liquids into a fine mist), which is connected to a high-pressure injector, and inserted into the abdomen (part of the body that contains the digestive organs) during a laparoscopic procedure (a surgery using small incisions to introduce air and to insert a camera and other instruments in the abdominal cavity for diagnosis and/or to perform routine surgical procedures). Pressurization of the liquid chemotherapy through the study device results in aerosolization (a fine mist or spray) of the chemotherapy intra-abdominally (into the abdomen). Giving chemotherapy through PIPAC may reduce the amount of chemotherapy needed to achieve acceptable drug concentration, and therefore potentially reduces side effects and toxicities. Read Less

This phase II/III trial studies how well a reduced dose of radiation therapy works with nivolumab compared to cisplatin in treating patients with human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive oropharyngeal cancer that is early in its growth and may not have spread to other parts of the body (early-stage), and is not associated with smoking. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Chemotherapy drugs, such as cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. This trial is being done to see if a reduced dose of radiation therapy and nivolumab works as well as standard dose radiation therapy and cisplatin in treating patients with oropharyngeal cancer. This phase II trial studies the benefit of adding an immunotherapy drug called MEDI4736 (durvalumab) to standard chemotherapy and radiation therapy in treating bladder cancer which has spread to the lymph nodes. Drugs used in standard chemotherapy work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Cisplatin is in a class of medications known as platinum-containing compounds. It works by killing, stopping or slowing the growth of tumor cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Immunotherapy with durvalumab may help the body's immune system attack the cancer and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving chemotherapy and radiation therapy with the addition of durvalumab may work better in helping tumors respond to treatment compared to chemotherapy and radiation therapy alone. Patients with limited regional lymph node involvement may benefit from attempt at bladder preservation, and use of immunotherapy and systemic chemotherapy. Read Less

Researchers are looking for a better way to treat people who have advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with specific genetic changes called human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) mutations. Advanced NSCLC is a group of lung cancers that have spread to nearby tissues or to other parts of the body or that are unlikely to be cured or controlled with currently available treatments. HER2 is a protein that helps cells to grow and divide. A damage (also called mutation) to the building plans (genes) for this protein in cancer cells leads to a production of abnormal HER2 and therefore abnormal cell growth and division. The study treatment, BAY 2927088, is expected to block the mutated HER2 protein which may stop the spread of NSCLC. The main purpose of this study is to learn how well BAY 2927088 works and how safe it is compared with standard treatment, in participants who have advanced NSCLC with specific genetic changes called HER2 mutations. The study participants will receive one of the study treatments: * BAY 2927088 twice every day as a tablet by mouth, or * Standard treatment in cycles of 21 days via infusion ("drip") into the vein. The treatment will continue for as long as participants benefit from it without any severe side effects or until they or their doctor decide to stop the treatment. During the study, the doctors and their study team will: * take imaging scans, including CT, PET, MRI, and X-rays, of different parts of the body to study the spread of cancer * check the overall health of the participants by performing tests such as blood and urine tests, and checking * heart health using an electrocardiogram (ECG) * perform pregnancy tests for women * ask the participants questions about how they are feeling and what adverse events they are having. This phase II trial tests how well giving durvalumab with standard chemotherapy, gemcitabine and cisplatin, before surgery works in treating patients with high risk liver cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) that can be removed by surgery (resectable). Durvalumab is a monoclonal antibody that may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Chemotherapy drugs, such as gemcitabine and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving durvalumab with gemcitabine and cisplatin before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed in patients with high risk resectable cholangiocarcinoma. This Phase 2, open-label, randomized study in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an intravenously delivered oncolytic vaccinia virus, Olvi-Vec, followed by platinum-doublet chemotherapy + Physician's Choice of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor (ICI) vs. docetaxel for patients with advanced or metastatic NSCLC who have shown first disease progression (i.e., progressive disease not yet confirmed by further scan after initial scan showing progression) while on front-line treatment or maintenance ICI therapy after front-line treatment with platinum-doublet chemotherapy + ICI as standard of care. This study is researching an investigational drug called fianlimab (also called REGN3767) with two other medications called cemiplimab and chemotherapy, individually called a "study drug" or collectively called "study drugs". 'Investigational' means that the study drug is not approved for use outside of this study by any Health Authority. The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of pemetrexed + platinum chemotherapy + pembrolizumab (MK-3475) with or without lenvatinib (MK-7902/E7080) as first-line intervention in adults with metastatic nonsquamous non-small cell lung cancer. The primary study hypotheses state that: 1) the combination of lenvatinib + platinum doublet chemotherapy + pembrolizumab prolongs Progression-free Survival (PFS) as assessed by blinded independent central review (BICR) per modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors version 1.1 (RESIST 1.1) compared to matching placebo + platinum doublet chemotherapy + pembrolizumab, and 2) the combination of lenvatinib + platinum doublet chemotherapy + pembrolizumab prolongs Overall Survival (OS) compared to matching placebo + platinum doublet chemotherapy + pembrolizumab. Patients with pleural mesothelioma (PM) that cannot be surgically removed will receive standard chemotherapy (cisplatin or carboplatin and pemetrexed) given with durvalumab, a type of immunotherapy, or a treatment chosen by the study doctor, which is either standard chemotherapy or immunotherapy combination (ipilimumab and nivolumab). Durvalumab is an antibody (a type of human protein) that works by blocking a body substance called Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-L1). Blocking PD-L1 helps the body's immune system attack cancer cells. Research has shown that durvalumab can slow tumor growth and shrink tumors in some people with cancer. Previous studies of combining durvalumab and chemotherapy showed that this combination is active in advanced mesothelioma.
