Cisplatin Treatment Options in Kansas

This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of triapine when given with radiation therapy and cisplatin in treating patients with stage IB2-IVA cervical or vaginal cancer. Triapine may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking an enzyme needed for cell growth. Cisplatin is a drug used in chemotherapy that kills cancer cells by damaging their deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Adding triapine to standard treatment with cisplatin and radiation therapy may kill more cancer cells. Read Less

This study will test an experimental drug (enfortumab vedotin) alone and with different combinations of anticancer therapies. Pembrolizumab is an immune checkpoint inhibitor (CPI) that is used to treat patients with cancer of the urinary system (urothelial cancer). This type of cancer includes cancer of the bladder, renal pelvis, ureter or urethra. Some parts of the study will look at locally advanced or metastatic urothelial cancer (la/mUC), which means the cancer has spread to nearby tissues or to other areas of the body. Other parts of the study will look at muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), which is cancer at an earlier stage that has spread into the muscle wall of the bladder. This study will look at the side effects of enfortumab vedotin alone and with other anticancer therapies. A side effect is a response to a drug that is not part of the treatment effect. This phase III trial studies how well an antibody (durvalumab) with chemotherapy and radiation therapy (chemoradiation) works in treating patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer that cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable). Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as durvalumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. This study is being done to see if adding durvalumab to standard chemoradiation followed by additional durvalumab can extend patients life and/or prevent the tumor from coming back compared to the usual approach of chemoradiation alone followed by durvalumab. Radiation therapy uses high energy rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Chemotherapy drugs, such as gemcitabine, cisplatin, fluorouracil and mitomycin-C, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving chemotherapy with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as atezolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving atezolizumab with radiation therapy and chemotherapy may work better in treating patients with localized muscle invasive bladder cancer compared to radiation therapy and chemotherapy without atezolizumab. This is a global, multicenter, randomized, open-label study, with an adaptive design. The main objective of the study is to measure the efficacy and safety of BT8009 (zelenectide pevedotin) as monotherapy and in combination with pembrolizumab in participants with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial cancer (UC). The study includes a dose selection phase followed by an adaptive design continuation. The study is comprised of 2 cohorts. DESTINY-Gastric03 will investigate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, immunogenicity, and preliminary antitumor activity of trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) alone or in combination with chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy in HER2-expressing advanced/metastatic gastric/gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) and esophageal adenocarcinoma patients. Study hypotheses: Combination of T-DXd with cytotoxic chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy administered to subjects at the recommended phase 2 dose will show manageable safety and tolerability and preliminary anti-tumor efficacy so as to permit further clinical testing. T-DXd in combination with cytotoxic chemotherapy or immune checkpoint inhibitor administered to HER2-expressing gastric, GEJ and esophageal cancer patients who have not received prior treatment for advanced/metastatic disease will show preliminary evidence of anti-tumour activity and the potential to become a therapeutic option for this patient population.
