Docetaxel/Cisplatin/5-Fluorouracil (TPF) Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Squamous Cell Carcinoma Study
Terminated
In this research study, the investigators are studying whether a reduced dose of radiation when given with standard doses of chemotherapy can reduce side effects without compromising control of the cancer. An approved treatment for squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck is initial chemotherapy followed by radiation and chemotherapy together. This treatment is effective but has many immediate and long-term side effects. People who have squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SSCHN) th... Read More

Cisplatin, CPT-11 and Celecoxib With Radiation Therapy and Surgery for Operable Esophageal Cancer
Completed
This is a study for patients with resectable, locally advanced esophageal cancer. There is evidence to suggest that celecoxib in combination with cisplatin and irinotecan (CPT-11) may work well with radiation therapy to kill cancer cells. The primary goal is to develop a well-tolerated cancer treatment that has an acceptable response rate.

Platinum for Triple-Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer and Evaluation of p63/p73 as a Biomarker of Response
Completed
The purpose of this research study is to : * Determine how effective cisplatin or carboplatin is in slowing the time it takes for ER negative (estrogen-receptor-negative), PR negative (progesterone receptor-negative), HER2 negative (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) breast cancer to progress. Cisplatin and carboplatin are anti-cancer chemotherapy drugs that stop cancer cells from growing abnormally and is used to treat other cancers. * Evaluate a new biomarker to help determine which br... Docetaxel, Cisplatin, Irinotecan and Bevacizumab (TPCA) in Metastatic Esophageal and Gastric Cancer
Completed
The purpose of this research study is to determine if the combination of docetaxel, cisplatin, irinotecan and bevacizumab will help shrink metastatic esophageal or gastric cancer and how the cancer responds to this combination. Bevacizumab is a new drug that is believed to stop the formation of new blood vessels that carry nutrients to tumors. Bevacizumab is approved for use in metastatic colon and rectal cancer. Docetaxel, cisplatin and irinotecan are traditional chemotherapy agents that have b... Read More

A Study of MEHD7945A in Combination With Cisplatin and 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) or Paclitaxel and Carboplatin in Participants With Recurrent/Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck (R/M SCCHN)
Completed
This open-label, multicenter study will evaluate the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of MEHD7945A in combination with chemotherapy (either cisplatin plus 5-FU or carboplatin plus paclitaxel) in participants with previously untreated R/M SCCHN. There are two stages for each arm in this study: a Dose-limiting Toxicity (DLT)-evaluation stage (Stage I) and a cohort-expansion stage (Stage II). In Stage I, DLTs will be assessed during a DLT Assessment Window of 21 days (i.e., Cycle 1 Day 1... Read More

GDC-0941 and Cisplatin in Treating Patients With Androgen Receptor-Negative Triple Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer
Terminated
This phase I/II trial study evaluates the tolerability and best tolerated dose of the PI3K inhibitor GDC-0941 when given with the chemotherapy cisplatin. This study will also examine how well the combination of GDC-0941 and cisplatin work in treating patients with androgen receptor negative triple negative metastatic breast cancer. Patients will be randomized to receive cisplatin alone or cisplatin with GDC-0941 in the phase II portion. Those receiving cisplatin alone can receive GDC-0941 upon p... Read More

Phase I Study of CBP501 and Cisplatin in Patients With Advanced Refractory Solid Tumors
Completed
The purpose of this research study is to find the answers to the following questions: 1. What are the highest doses of CBP501 and cisplatin that can be safely administered as consecutive 2-hours and 1-hour infusions every 21 days? 2. What are the side effects of the combination of CBP501 and cisplatin when given as an infusion every 21 days? 3. What amount of CBP501 and cisplatin are found in the blood at certain times after it is given? 4. Are there any substances in your blood or tumor that c... Read More

Panitumumab Chemoradiotherapy Chemotherapy for Squamous Cancer of the Head and Neck
Completed
This study is being done to test whether panitumumab, in combination with chemotherapy and radiation is safe in people with head and neck cancer. Another goal of this study is to find the highest dose of the study drugs that can be given safely without causing serious sife effects. Panitumumab is a type of drug called a monoclonal antibody that has been studied in other types of cancers, such as kidney and colon. This monoclonal antibody is directed against the epidermal growth factor receptor (... Read More

Chemotherapy or Observation in Treating Patients With Early Stage Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
Terminated
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vinorelbine, cisplatin, docetaxel, gemcitabine, and pemetrexed disodium, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Sometimes after surgery, the tumor may not need more treatment until it progresses. In this case, observation may be sufficient. It is not yet known whether chemotherapy is more effective than observation in treating patients who have undergone surgery for st... Read More

Completed
RATIONALE: After removal of visible cancer in the chest, chemotherapy drugs are used to kill or stop tumor cells from dividing, so that they stop growing or/and die. Cisplatin is currently used safely as in intra-operative treatment for malignant pleural mesothelioma. This study is aimed to determine if the addition of gemcitabine as a second intracavitary chemotherapy can be accomplished safely. PURPOSE: This is a Phase I trial to study the efficacy of combination chemotherapy consisting of ge... Read More

Chemotherapy Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Stage II or Stage III Anal Cancer
Completed
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug or combining radiation therapy with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether fluorouracil and mitomycin plus radiation therapy is more effective than fluorouracil and cisplatin plus radiation therapy for anal cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying fluorouracil and mitomycin plus radiation therapy to... Read More

Adjuvant Chemoradiotherapy and Interferon Alfa in Treating Patients With Resected Pancreatic Cancer
Completed
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as fluorouracil and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Interferon alfa may interfere with the growth of tumor cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy radiation from x-rays and other sources to kill tumor cells. Combining chemotherapy with interferon alfa and giving them with radiation therapy after surgery may kill any remaining tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiven... Read More
