The purpose of this research study is to find the answers to the following questions: 1. What are the highest doses of CBP501 and cisplatin that can be safely administered as consecutive 2-hours and 1-hour infusions every 21 days? 2. What are the side effects of the combination of CBP501 and cisplatin when given as an infusion every 21 days? 3. What amount of CBP501 and cisplatin are found in the blood at certain times after it is given? 4. Are there any substances in your blood or tumor that can tell us about tumor sensitivity to CBP501 and cisplatin? 5. Will CBP501 given with cisplatin help to treat your cancer? Read Less

This study is being done to test whether panitumumab, in combination with chemotherapy and radiation is safe in people with head and neck cancer. Another goal of this study is to find the highest dose of the study drugs that can be given safely without causing serious sife effects. Panitumumab is a type of drug called a monoclonal antibody that has been studied in other types of cancers, such as kidney and colon. This monoclonal antibody is directed against the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). EGFR has been found on the majority of head and neck cancer cells. By blocking EGFR, this monoclonal antibody may inhibit the growth of head and neck cancer cells. Read Less

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vinorelbine, cisplatin, docetaxel, gemcitabine, and pemetrexed disodium, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Sometimes after surgery, the tumor may not need more treatment until it progresses. In this case, observation may be sufficient. It is not yet known whether chemotherapy is more effective than observation in treating patients who have undergone surgery for stage I non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying four chemotherapy regimens to see how well they work compared with observation in treating patients with early stage non-small cell lung cancer. RATIONALE: After removal of visible cancer in the chest, chemotherapy drugs are used to kill or stop tumor cells from dividing, so that they stop growing or/and die. Cisplatin is currently used safely as in intra-operative treatment for malignant pleural mesothelioma. This study is aimed to determine if the addition of gemcitabine as a second intracavitary chemotherapy can be accomplished safely. PURPOSE: This is a Phase I trial to study the efficacy of combination chemotherapy consisting of gemcitabine and cisplatin administered in the operating room and put into the chest and abdomen for one hour. We are also looking at the effects of heating the chemotherapy to a temperature of 42 degrees Celsius and the effect of cytoprotection agents: amifostine and sodium thiosulfate to counteract potential side effects of chemotherapy. Combining more than one drug or combining radiation therapy with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether fluorouracil and mitomycin plus radiation therapy is more effective than fluorouracil and cisplatin plus radiation therapy for anal cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying fluorouracil and mitomycin plus radiation therapy to see how well it works compared to fluorouracil and cisplatin plus radiation therapy in treating patients with stage II or stage III anal cancer. Interferon alfa may interfere with the growth of tumor cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy radiation from x-rays and other sources to kill tumor cells. Combining chemotherapy with interferon alfa and giving them with radiation therapy after surgery may kill any remaining tumor cells. This multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of onartuzumab (MetMAb) in combination with paclitaxel plus platinum in patients with incurable Stage IIIB or Stage IV squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Patients will be randomized to receive either onartuzumab (MetMAb) 15 mg/kg iv or placebo on Day 1 of each 21-day cycle in combination with 4 cycles of paclitaxel 200 mg/m2 iv and platinum (carboplatin/cisplatin) iv on Day 1 of each 21-day cycle. This is a multi-center, open-label, Phase 1b, dose escalation trial of Sym004 administered in combination with 1 of 3 platinum-doublets in subjects with Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). The sponsor decided to discontinue the development of Sym004. Also the decision was made to discontinue the development of Sym004 in NSCLC indication. The decision to discontinue Sym004 in NSCLC was not related to any safety or efficacy findings regarding Sym004. As a result of the early discontinuation of the trial during the dose escalation part, the expansion cohort will no longer be performed hence the pre-specified secondary endpoints are not analyzed and were removed from the protocol based on protocol amendment 2 dated 31 March 2015. The purposes of this study are: to determine the feasibility of administering adjuvant cisplatin plus ALIMTA to patients who undergo surgery with heated cisplatin during surgery; to determine the effects (good and bad) of this combined modality approach in patients with mesothelioma; to evaluate cisplatin effects by determining where it goes and how it is excreted in the body from the collection of tissues and cisplatin samples; to collect and analyze discarded samples of mesothelioma tumor during surgery to help determine the genetic make-up of the disease.
