This randomized phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of pomalidomide and ixazomib when given together with dexamethasone and to see how well pomalidomide and dexamethasone with or without ixazomib works in treating patients with multiple myeloma that has come back. Biological therapies, such as pomalidomide and dexamethasone, may stimulate the immune system in different ways and stop cancer cells from growing. Ixazomib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Compare the outcome following manipulation under anesthesia for stiffness in a randomized controlled fashion with one group receiving IV dexamethasone and oral celecoxib at the time of manipulation to a control group receiving manipulation alone. The goal of this clinical research study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness (good and bad effects) of ixazomib given as part of a combination therapy to treat subjects with relapsed (subjects whose disease came back) or refractory (subjects whose disease did not respond to past treatment) multiple myeloma. More specifically, the study is focused on subjects who were previously treated with bortezomib (Velcade®) or carfilzomib (Kyprolis®) and showed worsening of their myeloma while receiving either one of these drugs in combination therapy. This study is a Phase I/II. Ixazomib is an investigational drug, which means that ixazomib is currently being tested and is not yet approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for subjects with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. Ixazomib is a new study drug that belongs to the same class as bortezomib and carfilzomib; however, unlike bortezomib and carfilzomib, ixazomib is taken by mouth. Current studies investigating ixazomib are demonstrating that it is as safe as bortezomib and effective for the treatment of multiple myeloma both on its own and in combination with other multiple myeloma medications, such as lenalidomide and dexamethasone, or prednisone and melphalan. This is a study of a medical procedure that utilizes a commercially available catheter (the Bullfrog® Micro-Infusion Device) to locally deliver a commercially available anti-inflammatory drug (dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection) around the deep veins after DVT recanalization, where DVT symptoms were present for at least 14 days and no more than 60 days prior to recanalization. Combining chemotherapy with autologous stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more cancer cells. Monoclonal antibodies, such as rituximab, can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Giving rituximab as maintenance therapy after stem cell transplantation may kill any remaining cancer cells. It is not yet known which salvage chemotherapy regimen is more effective before autologous stem cell transplantation in treating relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying salvage chemotherapy using dexamethasone, cisplatin, and gemcitabine to see how well it works compared to dexamethasone, cisplatin, and cytarabine given before autologous stem cell transplantation in treating patients with relapsed or refractory aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. This trial also is studying giving rituximab as maintenance therapy to see how well it works compared to no further therapy after stem cell transplantation.
