Doxorubicin Hydrochloride Liposome, Bortezomib, and Dexamethasone in Treating Patients With Newly Diagnosed Multiple Myeloma
Unknown
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome and dexamethasone, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Bortezomib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Giving bortezomib together with combination chemotherapy may kill more cancer cells.
PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how wel... Read More

Combination Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma or Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia
Completed
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more cancer cells.

Radiation Therapy and Chemotherapy in Treating Children With CNS Relapse From Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Completed
Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of radiation therapy following chemotherapy in treating children with CNS relapse from acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Steroid Treatment for Kidney Disease
Completed
Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and minimal change disease are kidney diseases that are associated with increased excretion of protein in the urine. Approximately half of FSGS patients will lose kidney function within 8 years of diagnosis and will require dialysis. The purpose of this study is to determine whether intermittent oral steroid therapy can cause sustained remission of FSGS and MCD.
Approximately 70 participants, including adults and children older than age 2, will be enrol... Read More

G-CSF for Granulocyte Donation
Completed
This study will examine the feasibility of giving cell growth stimulants to granulocyte donors the same day of donation rather than the day before.
People who donate granulocytes (infection-fighting white blood cells) for transfusion to patients with severe white cell deficiencies are often given a steroid called dexamethasone and a growth factor called G-CSF the day before donation. These drugs stimulate white cell production, allowing many more cells to be collected than would otherwise be po... Read More
