Paclitaxel Treatment Options in Buffalo, NY

This clinical study is in subjects who are 18 years old or older with locally advanced pancreatic cancer who have not received prior treatment for their pancreatic cancer. The study treats all subjects with nab-Paclitaxel plus gemcitabine for approximately 6 months of treatment. Subjects who complete the treatment will choose, with their treating physicians, what additional treatment should be given: more nab-Paclitaxel plus gemcitabine, Chemoradiation therapy, or surgery to treat the locally advanced pancreatic cancer. This randomized phase III trial studies pelvic radiation therapy to see how well it works compared with vaginal implant radiation therapy, paclitaxel, and carboplatin in treating patients with high-risk stage I or stage II endometrial cancer. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Implant radiation therapy uses radioactive material placed directly into or near a tumor to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving carboplatin and paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation together with radiation therapy and erlotinib may kill more tumor cells. Selenomethionine may slow the growth of tumor cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving combination chemotherapy together with selenomethionine and radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well selenomethionine works when given together with carboplatin, paclitaxel, and radiation therapy in treating patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. This multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial will evaluate the efficacy and safety of carboplatin/paclitaxel and carboplatin/paclitaxel/bevacizumab with and without pictilisib in particpants with previously untreated advanced or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Particpants will be randomized to receive 4 cycles of carboplatin (C)/paclitaxel (P) and either pictilisib or placebo, with (participants with non-squamous NSCLC) or without (participants with squamous NSCLC) bevacizumab (B). Anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression or intolerable toxicity occurs. Participants in placebo arms with disease progression may cross over to open-label active pictilisib.
