This randomized phase III trial studies carboplatin and paclitaxel to see how well they work with or without cisplatin and radiation therapy in treating patients with stage I-IVA endometrial cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin, paclitaxel, and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving chemotherapy and radiation therapy after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery. It is not yet known whether carboplatin and paclitaxel are more effective with or without cisplatin and radiation therapy in treating patients with endometrial cancer. Read Less

Metformin hydrochloride may help paclitaxel and carboplatin work better by making cancer cells more sensitive to the drugs. The main purpose of this study is to see how well the combination of Abraxane and gemcitabine works in people with advanced adenocarcinoma NSCLC who have already had treatment for their disease. Gemcitabine and Abraxane are FDA approved chemotherapies; however, the FDA has not approved this combination in the treatment of this specific type of cancer. Monoclonal antibodies such as trastuzumab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy plus trastuzumab is more effective than combination chemotherapy alone for treating breast cancer.
