RATIONALE: Tipifarnib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by making tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing and may also make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of tipifarnib when given together with radiation therapy after combination chemotherapy in treating patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer. This randomized phase III trial studies pelvic radiation therapy to see how well it works compared with vaginal implant radiation therapy, paclitaxel, and carboplatin in treating patients with high-risk stage I or stage II endometrial cancer. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Implant radiation therapy uses radioactive material placed directly into or near a tumor to kill tumor cells. This is a Phase III, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab administered in combination with paclitaxel in patients with previously untreated, locally recurrent, or metastatic HER2-negative breast cancer. Patients will be randomized to one of two treatment arms: bevacizumab or placebo. All patients will be given an intravenous (IV) infusion of of paclitaxel (90 mg/m2) for 3 weeks during each 28-day cycle. bevacizumab or placebo (10 mg/kg) will be administered by IV infusion on Days 1 and 15 of each 28-day cycle.
