This randomized phase III trial is studying giving fluorouracil together with epirubicin and cyclophosphamide followed by paclitaxel and trastuzumab to see how well it works compared with giving paclitaxel together with trastuzumab followed by fluorouracil, epirubicin, cyclophosphamide, and trastuzumab in treating women with palpable breast cancer that can be removed by surgery. Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as trastuzumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. It is not yet known whether it is more effective to give combination chemotherapy before or after treatment with paclitaxel plus trastuzumab. Read Less

The goal of this clinical research study is to find the highest safe dose of intraperitoneal tgDCC-E1A that can be given in combination with paclitaxel as a treatment for patients with recurrent, platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. How the cancer responds to this treatment will also be studied. Researchers will also ask the patients if they will allow additional tumor samples to be collected and extra blood samples to be drawn. This trial is for people with bladder cancer that has spread. The purpose of this research study is to see if the chemotherapy combination of gemcitabine and cisplatin plus paclitaxel is safe and effective treatment for bladder cancer. Paclitaxel, gemcitabine and cisplatin have all been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Gemcitabine and cisplatin is a standard treatment for bladder cancer. There have been studies that show that paclitaxel and cisplatin have antitumor activity in bladder cancer. European researchers studied paclitaxel, gemcitabine and cisplatin (same drug combination in this trial) and found that the combination provided good disease control and was well tolerated.
