RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as doxorubicin hydrochloride, cyclophosphamide, and paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Colony-stimulating factors, such as filgrastim, may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood and may help the immune system recover from the side effects of chemotherapy. Monoclonal antibodies, such as trastuzumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Giving combination chemotherapy and filgrastim together with trastuzumab may kill more tumor cells. RATIONALE: Colony stimulating factors, such as sargramostim (GM-CSF), may stimulate the immune system in different ways and stop tumor cells from growing and may also increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood and help the immune system recover from the side effects of chemotherapy. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving GM-CSF together with paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation may be an effective treatment for ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, and primary peritoneal cancer. This phase II trial is studying how well giving hormone therapy together with combination chemotherapy before and after surgery works in treating patients with stage I-IIIA breast cancer. Estrogen can cause the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy using exemestane and triptorelin pamoate may fight breast cancer by lowering the amount of estrogen the body makes. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as capecitabine, methotrexate, vinorelbine ditartrate, and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. This multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial will evaluate the efficacy and safety of carboplatin/paclitaxel and carboplatin/paclitaxel/bevacizumab with and without pictilisib in particpants with previously untreated advanced or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Particpants will be randomized to receive 4 cycles of carboplatin (C)/paclitaxel (P) and either pictilisib or placebo, with (participants with non-squamous NSCLC) or without (participants with squamous NSCLC) bevacizumab (B).
