The study is looking at a new medicine to help people lose weight. In this study participants will either get semaglutide and NNC0165-1875 or semaglutide and a "dummy" medicine (placebo). Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants will get 2 injections per week, on the same day. Participants will have to take the study medicine by use of a pre-filled pen. A pen is a medical tool with a needle used for injections under the skin. The study doctor or staff will show participants how. The study will last for about 26 weeks. Participants will have 17 visits at the clinic with the study doctor. At 4 of the clinic visits participants cannot eat and drink (water is allowed until 2 hours prior to the visit) for 8 hours before the visit.Women: Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or plan to become pregnant during the study period. This study compares the effect of two doses of semaglutide (1.0 mg and 2.0 mg) in people with type 2 diabetes (T2D). People taking part in the study will take the medicine together with their current diabetes medicine (sulphonylurea and/or metformin). Participants will get a dose of either 1.0 mg or 2.0 mg semaglutide once a week - which dose is decided by chance. Participants will inject semaglutide under the skin once a week. This study will look at the change in participant's body weight from the start to the end of the study. This is to compare the effect on body weight in people taking semaglutide (a new medicine) and people taking "dummy" medicine. In addition to taking the medicine, the participant will have talks with study staff about healthy food choices, how to be more physically active and what a participant can do to lose weight. The participant will get semaglutide for the first 20 weeks. Then the participant will get either semaglutide or "dummy" medicine - which treatment the participant gets after the 20 weeks is decided by chance. The participants will need to take 1 injection once a week. The study medicine is injected with a thin needle in a skin fold in the stomach, thigh or upper arm. The study has two phases: A main phase and an extension phase.The main phase will last for about 1.5 years. Participants will have 15 clinic visits and 10 phone calls with the study doctor. Extension phase: Approximately 300 participants will continue in the extension phase in the following countries only: Canada, Germany, the UK and selected sites in the US and Japan.
