Semaglutide Treatment Options in Texas

This study will look if CagriSema can lower kidney damage in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD), type 2 diabetes (T2D) and overweight or obesity. CagriSema is a new investigational medicine. CagriSema cannot yet be prescribed by doctors. The study will compare CagriSema to the 2 medicines semaglutide and cagrilintide, when they are taken alone. It will also compare CagriSema to a "dummy" medicine (also called placebo) without any active ingredient. Participant will either get CagriSema, semaglutide, cagrilintide or placebo. Which treatment participant will get is decided by chance (like flipping a coin). Study doctor will not know which of the study medicines participant will get. The researchers are doing this study to see if semaglutide can slow down the growth and worsening of chronic kidney disease in people with type 2 diabetes. Participants will get semaglutide (active medicine) or placebo ('dummy medicine'). This is known as participants' study medicine - which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Semaglutide is a medicine, doctors can prescribe in some countries for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Participants will get the study medicine in a pen. Participants will use the pen to inject the medicine in a skin fold once a week. The study will close when there is enough information collected to show clear result of the study. This study compares three doses of once daily semaglutide tablets in people with type 2 diabetes who were previously treated with other oral anti-diabetic medicines. Participants will be initiated on the lowest starting dose of 3 mg and gradually increased until they reach the final trial dose of 14 mg, 25 mg or 50 mg once daily semaglutide tablets. The final three doses will be randomized (i.e., decided by chance). Participants will be administered one tablet per day for 68 weeks. Women cannot take part if they are pregnant, breast-feeding or planning to become pregnant during the study period. Women who can get pregnant will be checked for pregnancy via urine tests. Participants in the study, will receive the study drug once daily for 10 days in tablet form for oral (by mouth) intake. On day 1 to 5 the tablet will contain 3 mg semaglutide, and on day 6-10 the tablet will contain 7 mg semaglutide. Read Less

This study will look at how well CagriSema compared to Tirzepatide helps people lower their body weight. CagriSema is a new investigational medicine developed by Novo Nordisk that combines Cagrilintide and Semaglutide. CagriSema is not yet being prescribed by doctors. Participant will get injections once a week throughout the treatment period. Participant will inject the study medicine under the skin with a pen injector in the thigh, stomach, or upper arm. After a first low dose, the study medicine will be gradually increased until reaching the planned dose (2.4 mg CagriSema or 15 mg Tirzepatide). This study is done to find out whether the medicine, semaglutide, has a positive effect on early Alzheimer's disease. Participants will either get semaglutide or placebo (a "dummy" medicine which does not contain any study medicine) - which treatment participants get is decided by an equal chance. The study will last for up to 173 weeks (about 3 years and 4 months). Participants will have 17 clinic visits and 1 phone call with the study doctor. The study includes various tests and scans. At 10 of the clinic visits participants will have blood samples taken. Participants must have a study partner, who is willing to take part in the study. Women cannot take part if pregnant, breastfeeding or plan to become pregnant during the study period. A cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) sub-study will be performed as a part of the study. The sub-study will be performed on a selection of sites based on their experience with CSF sampling and willingness to participate in this sub-study. CagriSema cannot yet be prescribed by doctors. The study has two parts: First part is called the main phase and will last for 2 years, and second part is called the extension phase and will last for 1 year. In the main phase participants will either get CagriSema or "dummy medicine". Which treatment participants get is decided by chance and is not known by participants or the study doctor. In the extension phase participants will get either CagriSema or slowly reduce participants dose of CagriSema if participants had CagriSema in the main phase. Which treatment participants get is decided by chance and is not known by participants or the study doctor in both phases. Participants will either get semaglutide tablets or placebo tablets ("dummy" medicine) - which treatment is decided by chance. Participants must take one tablet with water every morning on an empty stomach and not eat or drink anything for at least 30 minutes. The study will last for about 3.5-5 years. Participants will have up to 25 clinic visits and 1 phone call with the study doctor.
