Study of Tilpisertib Fosmecarbil in Participants With Moderately to Severely Active Ulcerative Colitis
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to learn if tilpisertib fosmecarbil (formerly known as GS-5290) is effective and safe in treating participants with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis. The study will compare participants in different treatment groups treated with tilpisertib fosmecarbil with participants treated with placebo. The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate the efficacy of tilpisertib fosmecarbil, compared to placebo control, in achieving Clinical Response at Week 12.

Prebiotics in Reducing Inflammation and Clinical Endpoints in Ulcerative Colitis (PRInCE-UC)
Recruiting
The community of microbes living in the gut is called the 'gut microbiome'. Changing this could be an exciting new way of treating people living with ulcerative colitis (UC). UC is a type of inflammatory bowel disease. It affects 4 in every 1000 people in the UK. UC causes severe episodes of inflammation leading to bloody diarrhoea. The gut microbes of people living with UC are different to those in healthy people. This may be part of the reason people with UC have a more inflamed gut. Prebiot... Read More

Efficacy of Energy Therapy in the Management of Chronic Pain Medical Condition in Children and Adolescents.
Recruiting
Paediatric and adolescent patients with chronic pain associated with their medical condition will be invited to participate in this study. Most patients for this study will be recruited from gastroenterology and hepatology clinics at KCH. Therefore the rationale for the study is primarily with consideration of each of these medical conditions all with the common symptom of chronic pain. The Mind-Body IBD Study: Understanding the Mind-body Connection in IBD
Recruiting
An aspect of IBD care that is often overlooked is mental health treatment. Common mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression are very common in IBD, with a meta-analysis estimating prevalence as high as 25.2% for depression and 32.1% for anxiety. The prevalence of anxiety and depression increases when individuals with active disease are considered, with rates as high as 57.6% for anxiety and 38.9% for depression. Comorbid depression and anxiety in IBD is associated with greater sympt... Read More

Colectomy Reconstruction for Ulcerative Colitis, Ileorectal Anastomosis vs Ileal Pouch-Anal Anastomosis in Ulcerative Colitis.
Recruiting
Background There are no prospective trials comparing the two main reconstructive options after colectomy for Ulcerative colitis, ileal pouch anal anastomosis and ileorectal anastomosis. An attempt on a randomized controlled trial has been made but after receiving standardized information patients insisted on choosing operation themselves. Methods Adult Ulcerative colitis patients subjected to colectomy eligible for both ileal pouch anastomosis and ileorectal anastomosis are asked to participate... Read More
