BCG Revaccination Study in Diabetic and Non-Diabetic Adults
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to: 1. explore whether investigators can make BCG more effective by giving it in a different way. For this, aerosol inhaled BCG will be compared against the conventional BCG injection. 2. explore if there are differences in response to re-vaccination in healthy volunteers with and without Type 2 Diabetes. It will involve 36 previously BCG-vaccinated participants. Bronchoscopies will be performed 14 days post-challenge to measure BCG recovered from bronchial samples... Read More

Global FKRP Registry
Recruiting
Mutations in the Fukutin Related Protein (FKRP) gene cause the condition Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy type R9 (LGMDR9) also known as LGMD2I, and the rarer conditions Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (MDC1C), Muscle Eye Brain Disease (MEB) and Walker-Warburg Syndrome (WWS). LGMDR9 is the most common FKRP-related condition, and is especially prevalent in Northern Europe. The aim is to facilitate a questionnaire based research study in order to better characterise and understand the disease globall... Read More

Hyperoxia Induced Pulmonary Inflammation and Organ Injury: a Human in Vivo Model
Recruiting
Oxygen is the most commonly administered therapy in critical illness. Accumulating evidence suggests that patients often achieve supra-physiological levels of oxygenation in the critical care environment. Furthermore, hyperoxia related complications following cardiac arrest, myocardial infarction and stroke have also been reported. The underlying mechanisms of hyperoxia mediated injury remain poorly understood and there are currently no human in vivo studies exploring the relationship between hy... Read More

Clinical and Functional Outcome of the MobileLink Acetabular Cup System in the Short-, Mid-, and Longterm Follow-up
Recruiting
The implantation of artificial hip joints is one of the most frequently performed surgeries. Normally, patients are very satisfied with the results. The MobileLink hip prosthesis system is a CE marked medical device. This means the the safety and performance of the prosthesis ist approved. Aim of the study is to collect clinical data about the outcome of the MobileLink hip prosthesis system under routine condition and to determine the satisfaction of the patients.

The Microbrect-FFC Study
Recruiting
This study will focus on two points: 1. To determine if response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy treatment in rectal cancer can be predicted by analysing data from Fast Field Cycling imaging (FFC), a novel type of MRI technique. 2. To determine if there is evidence that the bacteria living in our mouth and in our large bowel influence the way our body responds to cancer treatment. Rectal cancer which is locally advanced is often managed with pre-operative chemoradiotherapy. The idea is to red... Read More

Immune Cell Dysfunction in Severe Alcoholic Hepatitis
Recruiting
Through bio-sampling this study investigates the relationship between the frequency and function of the cells of a patients immune system and how these change and impact on the outcome of alcoholic hepatitis. the investigators will examine the role of different cells of the immune system and how they may determine the outcome of this condition. The investigators will also look at how established treatment strategies impact on the frequency and function of these cell subsets.
