PreOperative Brain Irradiation in Glioblastoma
Recruiting
PreOperative Brain Irradiation in Glioblastoma (POBIG) is a phase I study that will test the safety and feasibility of a single fraction of preoperative radiotherapy in patients with a new radiological diagnosis of glioblastoma (GBM). After the single fraction of radiotherapy, patients will receive standard treatment. The standard treatment consists of resection of the tumor followed by (chemo)radiation (i.e. radiotherapy +/- daily temozolomide (75mg/m2) for 6 weeks (60Gy/30fr) or for 3 weeks (4... Read More

MIRRORS-RCT Pilot: Role of Robotic Interval Cytoreductive Surgery for Advanced Ovarian Cancer
Recruiting
The survival of ovarian cancer patients is dependent on the stage at diagnosisÍž more than 70% of patients present with advanced stage disease (stage III/IV). In England, one-year survival is 98.7% at stage I and 51.4% at stage IV and five-year survival is 93.3% and 13.4% respectively. Standard treatment for advanced ovarian cancer involves surgery to remove all visible tumour and chemotherapy. Removal of all visible disease, so no tumour deposits are visible to the naked eye at the end of first-... Read More

Protein Intake in Patients With Coronary Heart Disease
Recruiting
Sarcopenia is a skeletal muscle disease, characterised by low muscle strength and muscle mass, and associated with higher medical care costs, shorter life expectancy and physical dependence. Sarcopenia affects around 1 in 10 older adults in the general population. However, in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD), this number is almost 3 in 10. Patients who have CHD are offered cardiac rehabilitation (CR); a multicomponent programme designed to improve long-term health outcomes. Nutritional... Read More

The UK Interstitial Lung Disease Long-COVID19 Study (UKILD-Long COVID): Understanding the Burden of Interstitial Lung Disease in Long COVID.
Recruiting
Prospective observational study of hospitalised and non-hospitalised patients post- infection with SARS-CoV-2. The study aims to recruit 2000 individuals, with proven COVID-19, who were not hospitalised but presented to Long-COVID clinics with persistent respiratory symptoms such as breathlessness or cough and are referred for cross-sectional imaging (computer tomography, CT) at baseline (3 months weeks after their first COVID-19 symptoms). The study will run for 18 months.

The Effect of Time-Restricted Eating in Cardiometabolic Health
Recruiting
Time-restricted eating (TRE) is a dietary manipulation that involves restricting food intake to 6-12 h/day with no energy intake the rest of the day. In rodents, TRE improves metabolic function without caloric restriction, potentially by activating nutrient sensing mechanisms and effects on circadian oscillations. However, an understanding of the effect of TRE on cardiometabolic health in people is not clear and few studies have evaluated this issue. Accordingly, the investigators propose to con... Read More

Consequences of Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries on Maternal Psychology and Relationship Experience
Recruiting
The aim is to ascertain whether sustaining an Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injury negatively impacts intra-family relationships and increases the risk of mental health conditions, including a women's perception of herself and her self-esteem. Research in this field will ensure that the correct care and adequate support is provided for these patients in the post-natal period and beyond. Recognition of these conditions and the provision of support for these patients may improve relationships, leading... Read More

The Val-CARD Trial
Recruiting
The Val-CARD trial aims to answer the question: "Does the drug sodium valproate reduce complications affecting the heart and kidneys in patients having heart operations?" Sodium valproate is a drug commonly used in the treatment of epilepsy. Recently it has been shown to protect against heart and kidney damage in laboratory tests. This has led to trials evaluating whether it can prevent heart and kidney damage in patients. The investigators wish to evaluate whether treatment with sodium valproat... Read More
