Single-Port Transvesical Partial Prostatectomy Versus High Intensity Focused Ultrasound
Recruiting
This study aims to compare the novel single-port robotic partial prostatectomy to High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in patients with low to intermediate risk localized prostate cancer. These interventions have become acceptable focal therapies prevalent with beneficial oncologic outcomes and therefore need to be examined further.

Nephroureterectomy With and Without Lymph Node Dissection for Upper Tract Urothelial Cell Carcinoma
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to conduct the first randomized-controlled trial to determine the oncologic efficacy of lymph node dissection in participants with upper tract urothelial cell carcinoma. The main questions it aims to answer are:
To determine oncologic outcomes, specifically 2-year recurrence-free survival
To determine other oncologic outcomes including treatment-free, cancer-specific and overall survival
To determine time to recurrence and recurrence patterns
To determine use of adjuva... Read More

K01 Impacts of Lingual Endurance Exercise
Recruiting
Swallowing impairments (dysphagia) frequently occur after stroke and have devastating consequences on overall health and quality of life, and long-term deficits in swallow function also increase risk of morbidity (e.g. depression) and mortality (i.e. aspiration pneumonia). As such, rehabilitation of swallow function to improve safety and efficiency of swallowing is essential in this population. This study aims to: 1) Provide preliminary data to evaluate the effect of a novel lingual endurance ex... Read More

Misfolded Proteins in the Skin of People With Parkinson's Disease and Other Parkinsonism
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to determine whether identification of misfolded proteins in the skin will help to determine what sort of parkinsonism someone has. We seek to demonstrate whether someone has a synucleinopathy such as Parkinson's disease (PD), multiple system atrophy (MSA), or dementia with Lewy bodies(DLB), as opposed to a tauopathy such as progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) or corticobasal degeneration (CBD) or no parkinsonism at all (control).

Project 3: ACHIEVE- CHD
Recruiting
This project is part of the ACHIEVE GREATER (Addressing Cardiometabolic Health Inequities by Early PreVEntion in the GREAT LakEs Region) Center (IRB 100221MP2A), the purpose of which is to reduce cardiometabolic health disparities and downstream Black-White lifespan inequality in two cities: Detroit, Michigan, and Cleveland, Ohio. The ACHIEVE GREATER Center will involve three separate but related projects that aim to mitigate health disparities in risk factor control for three chronic conditions... Read More

Promoting Caregiver Implementation of an Effective Early Learning Intervention
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to examine the impact of a caregiver-implemented shared reading program, Sit Together and Read (STAR), on children ages 4 to 5 with developmental language disorder. The main questions it aims to answer are:
how much STAR impacts children's literacy skills in the short-term and long-term--up to two-years after completing STAR.
how do caregiver supports in the form of small monetary rewards or encouraging texts help caregivers to implement STAR at its intended frequency... Read More

Preoperative (Pre-amputation) Cryoanalgesia to Improve Post-amputation Phantom Limb Pain
Recruiting
Investigators will evaluate preamputation cryoanalgesia on pain, mobility, opioid use and general physical and emotional disability using a pilot randomized trial design, to explore the amount and variability of improvement on those outcomes and to investigate the potentiality of conducting a future larger randomized controlled trial, which the investigators will assess quantitatively the benefits of cryoanalgesia.

An Early Feasibility Study of the ReHAB System
Recruiting
The purpose of this research study is to examine the feasibility of a system that involves implanting small electrodes in the parts of the brain that control movement and sensation, and combining that with electrodes in the upper arm and shoulder to activate paralyzed muscles of the arm and hand. This system is intended for people with extensive paralysis in their arms. The small electrodes in the brain will be used to attempt to measure intended movements, and the muscles in the arm and hand wi... Read More

Efficacy of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) for Pain Reduction During Intrauterine Device (IUD) Insertion in Outpatient Gynecology
Recruiting
Pain with intrauterine device (IUD) insertion is very common and there are few options for patients to help reduce this pain. Transcutaneous electric nerve stimulators (TENS) are a non-invasive procedure that may help reduce the pain with IUD insertions. The investigators hope that the information gleaned from this study will result in pain control options for future patients who desire an IUD placement.
