This phase II trial tests whether 68Ga-FAPI-46 positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) scan works to image cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA) that has not spread to other parts of the body (localized). CAFs are a type of connective tissue cell that are found within or near cancerous tissue. Many CAFs express a protein called fibroblast activation protein (FAP) that are not found on healthy cells in large amounts. 68Ga-FAPI-46 is a radioactive chemical compound designed to circulate through the body and attach itself to FAP on PDA cells. A PET/CT scan is then used to detect the location of FAP lesions. PET scan is a procedure in which a small amount of radioactive glucose (sugar) is injected into a vein, and a scanner is used to make detailed, computerized pictures of areas inside the body where the glucose is taken up. Because cancer cells often take up more glucose than normal cells, the pictures can be used to find cancer cells in the body. CT scan is a procedure that uses a computer linked to an x-ray machine to make a series of detailed pictures of areas inside the body. The pictures are taken from different angles and are used to create 3-dimensional (3-D) views of tissues and organs. Combining a PET scan with a CT scan can help make the image easier to interpret. PET/CT scans are hybrid scanners that combine both modalities into a single scan during the same examination. Giving 68Ga-FAPI-46 PET/CT may help doctors improve upon the diagnosis and management of PDA. Read Less

Cancer strikes about one in three women and one in two men in the U.S. and more than 600,000 die from it each year. The best chance to reduce these numbers and save lives is through early detection and intervention. The investigators are developing a blood test to detect cancer from a simple blood draw also referred to as a liquid biopsy. This test is based on orphan non-coding RNAs (oncRNAs) that are abundant in the blood of patients with cancer and largely absent in people without cancer. Using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) investigators are able to interpret the thousands of oncRNAs found in the blood of patients with cancer by identifying unique, cancer-specific patterns. oncRNA patterns can be used to detect several types of cancer and detect cancer at the earliest stages. This is a prospective, observational study to collect blood samples and medical information from participants with and without cancer to represent the population in the USA. The investigators have designed the study to include participants without cancer, participants with conditions that are a predisposition for cancer, participants with pre-malignant lesions, and participants with cancer. Patients with a wide variety of cancers are going to be included i.e. bladder, breast, colorectal, esophageal, gastric, kidney, liver, lung, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, and uterine cancer. Each participant will be asked to donate a small blood sample and to share their medical information. The participant's medical information will be updated during the course of the study. The blood will be tested for oncRNA. The objective is to create a blood repository and associated medical database to develop a blood test for cancer, for different cancer types. The study is designed to be inclusive and represent the population in America. If this study is successful, the results will enable a world where cancer can be detected early with a simple blood test and diagnosed accurately, with better chances of cure. Nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) refers to the intentional destruction of one's own body tissue without suicidal intent and for purposes that are not socially sanctioned. While NSSI has been understudied among Veterans, the lifetime prevalence rate of NSSI in Veterans is approximately three times higher than the general population. Moreover, NSSI is associated with increased risk for violence, psychiatric distress, and marked impairment in psychosocial functioning. Even though NSSI is distinct from suicidal behaviors in several important ways, NSSI remains a strong predictor of a future suicide attempt. The primary goal of this project is to evaluate the treatment and acceptability of a brief intervention for NSSI that aims to reduce psychosocial impairment and NSSI behaviors in Veterans. Read Less

This clinical trial tests how well molecular breast imaging (MBI) works to guide the collection of a breast biopsy in patients with a breast abnormality. Currently, a biopsy is often guided by either ultrasound or mammography in order to ensure that a sample of the correct part of the breast is taken. Sometimes a lesion or part of the lesion cannot be seen on ultrasound or mammography, and, therefore, a biopsy guided with ultrasound or mammography may not be always be accurate. Studies have shown that high resolution MBI may have potential to improve the detection of some breast tumors. This trial uses a new high-resolution MBI system that may help perform a biopsy using MBI. Read Less

Patients with extremity soft tissue sarcoma (STS) are at high risk of recurrence. Pre-operative radiotherapy is used to increase the safe removal of tumors and improve local control in these patients. Increasing the preoperative radiotherapy dose with standard techniques might lead to normal tissue toxicity and postoperative wound complications. GRID radiation therapy is a technique that may increases radiation dose with minimal added toxicity. It is hypothesized that GRID radiation dose will improve tumor response without increasing post-operative wound complications. While GRID has been used in many patients, there have been few formal studies to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the technique. In this study, a single priming dose of GRID will be administered to subjects with high-risk extremity soft tissue sarcoma prior to standard radiotherapy and tumor resection to determine the safety and clinical efficacy of the GRID dose. This single-arm pilot study will assess the safety of spatially fractionated grid radiation therapy (GRID) on 20 subjects with resectable extremity soft tissue sarcoma, followed by standard-of-care conventional radiotherapy (XRT) and tumor resection.
