Evaluating the Impact of Synthetic Cooling Agents in Combustible Cigarettes on Smoking Perceptions and Use
Recruiting
This clinical trial evaluates the impact of synthetic cooling agents in combustible cigarettes on smoking perceptions and use. Menthol, a natural chemical, is a cooling agent that increases nicotine dependence among smokers. Menthol cigarettes largely contribute to the huge burden that smoking puts on public health. Approximately 43% of adult smokers smoke menthol cigarettes. Regulatory agencies have begun a ban on menthol. In response to the ban, the tobacco industry has introduced synthetic co... Read More

Electronic Optimization of Inspired Oxygen During Mechanical Ventilation, a Pragmatic Randomized Trial (OPTI-Oxygen)
Recruiting
OPTI-Oxygen is a single center, stepped wedged, cluster-randomized, un-blinded, pragmatic, comparing the use of a combined inspired oxygen (FiO2) and peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) titration strategy utilizing electronic health records (EHR) based electronic alerts (e-alerts) for respiratory therapists in mechanically ventilated critically ill adults. All eligible mechanically ventilated patients, FiO2 titration and SpO2 goal range will be based on the correlation between SpO2 and arterial... Read More

Evaluation of Trimer 4571 Therapeutic Vaccination in Adults Living With HIV on Suppressive Antiretroviral Therapy
Recruiting
Trimer 4571 is a vaccine designed to stimulate the development of broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) against HIV. Trimer 4571 is investigational, meaning it is not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). There is limited human experience with the Trimer 4571 vaccine administered with aluminum hydroxide (alum) and the vaccine has not been tested in people with HIV prior to this study although it has been tested in healthy volunteers. The goal of this study is to see if Trimer... Read More

Online Dietary and Resistance Training to Improve Physical Function in Older Cancer Survivors, E-PROOF Trial
Recruiting
This phase I trial tests the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness of online dietary and resistance training to improve physical function in older (greater than or equal to 65-years old) cancer survivors. Declines in adequate protein and calorie intake results in faster loss of muscle mass and physical functioning in older adults. A novel approach to improving physical function in older cancer survivors (OCS) is to utilize online, tailored education and counseling from regist... Read More

Genetic Counseling Patient Preference Intervention Versus Conventional Genetic Counseling for Women at Elevated Risk for Breast Cancer
Recruiting
This stage I clinical trial compares a genetic counseling patient preference (GCPP) intervention via EHR MyChart patient portal to conventional genetic counseling for women at elevated risk for breast cancer. Women at elevated breast cancer risk may be offered genetic counseling and genetic testing to further define whether they are at high risk (e.g. hereditary risk; BRCA mutation positive); moderate risk (e.g. risk based largely on family history and/or polygenic risk score) or average risk (e... EMLA Topical Cream for Treatment of Pain in Patients Receiving Intra-Dermal Technetium 99 Injections for Lymphoscintigraphy for Skin Cancers
Recruiting
This phase II trial tests how well EMLA topical cream works in treating pain in patients with skin cancers receiving Technetium 99 injections for a lymphoscintigraphy mapping procedure. A lymphoscintigraphy mapping procedure is used to find the main or lead lymph node (tissue that fight infection) so it can be removed and checked for tumor cells. Using lymphoscintigraphy to highlight and then surgically remove lymph nodes is standard way to treat skin cancer for many patients. The Technetium 99... Read More

Nanochip Technology in Monitoring Treatment Response and Detecting Relapse in Participants With Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma
Recruiting
This trial studies how well nanochip technology (immuno-tethered lipoplex nanoparticle [ILN] biochip) works in monitoring treatment response and in detecting relapse in participants with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Finding genetic markers for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma may help identify participants with this disease and help predict the outcome of treatment. It is not yet known how well ILN biochip-based testing monitors treatment response or detects relapse in participants with diffuse l... Read More

Orexin Receptor Antagonists as Modulators of Threat Sensitivity in Individuals With Alcohol Use Disorder
Recruiting
The goal of this double-blind clinical trial is to further explore if, how, and for whom orexin antagonism modifies brain-behavior stress targets in moderate to severe alcohol use disorder (AUD). The main questions it aims to answer are: Does an acute dose of suvorexant (SUV) and/or daily use of SUV modify brain-behavior targets of AUD dysfunction? Does daily SUV use change alcohol behavior and if so, is this change in behavior linked to brain-behavior change? Participants will be randomized t... Read More

Neural Mechanisms and Predictors of an Ultra-Brief Suicide Prevention Strategy
Recruiting
The current study is a clinical trial, meaning a research study in which human subjects are prospectively assigned to one or more interventions to evaluate the effects of those interventions on health-related behavioral outcomes. Specifically, male and female adults with current suicidal intent will be randomly assigned to receive either a 1-hour session of crisis response planning (CRP) or a 1-hour session of standard crisis risk management (Treatment as Usual).
