Adult patients on extracoporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) frequently experience bleeding, which is in part caused by acquired von Willebrand syndrome (vWS). Prior in vitro studies have shown that the addition of recombinant von Willebrand Factor (vWF) to ECMO patient blood samples, normalizes platelet adhesion and thrombus formation. This study is a phase I study, where adult ECMO patients with refractory bleeding will be treated with recombinant vWF a single time. The goal of this randomized clinical trial is to learn if imagining fast or slow muscle contractions causes different responses for nervous system excitability and muscle function in young, healthy males and females in. The main questions are: Does imagining fast muscle contractions cause greater nervous system excitability compared to imagining slow muscle contractions? Does imagining fast muscle contractions increase muscle function compared to imagining slow muscle contractions? A control condition (rest) will be compared with two intervention conditions: imagining fast and imagining slow conditions, to determine if the fast and slow increase outcomes more than control and if fast has the greatest response. Participants will: * Attend 4 laboratory visits * Perform 50 imagined contractions fast or slow, but with no physical movement * Physical muscle contractions and non-invasive brain stimulation would be completed before and after each condition. This study seeks to determine the biologic causes of inflammation in patients with Transverse Myelitis (TM) Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD) and related conditions. While patients will be treated according to decisions with their treating physician, this study will collect data and samples from patients prospectively to gain a better understanding of the disease. We are seeking to understand why some patients respond to medications, while others do not. We also seek to understand what happens biologically, preceding relapses. Gathering these data and samples will allow researchers to identify new ways of diagnosing and treating these diseases. This is a single center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase II clinical trial (RCT) to evaluate the efficacy of topical 10% Polyvinylpyrrolidone-Iodine (PVPI) to prevent new cavitated caries lesions when applied to the teeth of children with Severe Early Childhood Caries (S-ECC). At baseline, following oral rehabilitation in the operating room {10% (PVPI + Fluoride Varnish (FV)} will be compared to the current standard of care (Placebo + FV). This phase II trial tests how well ruxolitinib with tacrolimus and methotrexate work to prevent the development of graft versus host disease in pediatric and young adult patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant for acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, or myelodysplastic syndrome. Ruxolitinib is a type of medication called a kinase inhibitor. It works by blocking the signals of cells that cause inflammation and cell proliferation, which may help prevent graft versus host disease (GVHD). Tacrolimus is a drug used to help reduce the risk of rejection by the body of organ and bone marrow transplants by suppressing the immune system. Methotrexate stops cells from making DNA, may kill cancer cells, and also suppress the immune system, which may reduce the risk of GVHD. Giving ruxolitinib with tacrolimus and methotrexate may prevent GVHD in pediatric and young adults undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplants. Read Less

The purpose of this study is to find out how common persistent postmastectomy pain (PPMP) is among people who have had a mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery for their breast cancer. The study will also look at how effective regenerative peripheral nerve interface (RPNI) surgery is for reducing pain from neuropathic PPMP after breast reconstruction. Read Less

This study plans to learn more about people who are sick in the hospital with a lung infection, or respiratory failure. Respiratory failure, or severe lung failure, is a life-threatening disease. When it happens, the lungs have trouble carrying out their normal function of getting oxygen into the blood, and removing carbon dioxide from the body. Investigators are conducting this study to see what drinking too much alcohol, using tobacco products, or using drugs (both legal and illegal) may do to lung infections and respiratory failure. Subjects are asked to be in this research study because they are thought to have a lung infection and may also have respiratory failure. Alcohol, tobacco, and drug use have been linked to lung infections, respiratory failure, and even death, but the reasons for this aren't known. People who use unhealthy amounts of alcohol, tobacco, and or drugs may be more at risk for lung infections, and for severe complications due to lung infection. This study aims to determine whether direct brain stimulation of specific regions and ranges improves cognition in people with Parkinsons Disease (PD) who already have a deep brain stimulator implanted. Research activities consist of 32 subjects undergoing stimulation changes to their device and being administered neurocognitive tests to evaluate the changes. An fMRI scan will also be done at baseline and at weeks 15 and 27. All subjects will undergo the stimulation changes in a randomized double blind crossover study. Evaluation of stimulation changes will be assessed through analysis of neurocognitive data. Read Less

Cancer is a condition where cells in a specific part of body grow and reproduce uncontrollably. The purpose of this study is to assess safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and preliminary efficacy of ABBV-303 as a monotherapy and in combination with budigalimab, (ABBV-181). ABBV-303 is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of solid tumors. There are multiple treatment arms in this study. Participants will either receive ABBV-303 as a single agent or in combination with budigalimab (another investigational drug) at different doses. Approximately 181 adult participants will be enrolled in the study across sites worldwide. In Part A, ABBV-303 will be intravenously (IV) infused in escalating doses as a monotherapy in participants with relapsed (R)/refractory (R) solid tumors, R/R non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), R/R renal cell carcinoma (RCC), R/R head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), or R/R tissue agnostic participants with mesenchymal epithelial transition. In Part B, ABBV-303 in combination with budigalimab will be IV infused in participants with R/R solid tumors or NSCLC. The estimated duration of the study is up to 3 years. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care.
