Auricular Acupuncture as Part of Multimodal Analgesia After Lower Leg Fracture
Recruiting
The purpose is to find out if incorporation of an intraoperative electro auricular acupuncture protocol when added to a standard multimodal analgesic regimen for patients undergoing surgery to repair lower leg fracture under spinal anesthesia will help reduce postoperative opioid use.

Polatuzumab Vedotin (Pola) Plus Rituximab (R) in Patients With Post-transplant Lymphoproliferative Disorder (PTLD)
Recruiting
This study will test polatuzumab vedotin in combination with rituximab in patients with treatment-naïve CD20-positive post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) based on the established efficacy of polatuzumab vedotin in B-cell lymphomas and the inadequate response rate of PTLD to single-agent rituximab. The hypothesis is that this combination therapy will be safe, well-tolerated, and effective. If so, patients with PTLD will be able to be spared the toxicity of anthracycline-based chem... Read More

Recruiting
Obesity has become an important public health issue that leads to insulin resistance, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and cardiovascular diseases. Although weight loss with calorie restriction and increased physical activity improve these complications, many people fail these lifestyle interventions. Therefore, pharmacologic agents have been used for weight management in addition to lifestyle interventions. In the past few years, one of the widely used pharmacologic agents for weight manag... Nutrition and Obesity in Under-Represented Populations: Food Insecurity Research to Advance Science and Improve Health
Recruiting
Food insecurity is associated with obesity in children, and childhood obesity leads to long term health consequences. While existing research shows that food benefit programs reduce food insecurity, little is known about the mediating factors between food benefit programs and child health. The purpose of this study is to understand if the resolution of food insecurity in young children with early onset obesity can improve body mass index (BMI) over one year, and if so, by what mechanisms. The in... Read More

Registry for Systemic Eczema Treatments
Recruiting
The Registry for Systemic Eczema Therapies (RESET) registry is a database and biospecimen repository for patients with pediatric-onset atopic dermatitis (AD) who have used or will initiate any systemic treatment(s) for AD. The goal of the registry is to enable more efficient research recruitment and data collection as well as timely notification to enrollees about newly FDA-approved treatments for AD.

Traction vs. No Traction in Colonic ESD
Recruiting
The goal of this prospective, randomized, controlled trial conducted at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center is to compare the effectiveness and clinical outcomes of using a traction device in colonic endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) to those of using conventional ESD. The investigators of this study hypothesize that use of the traction device will help expedite colonic endoscopic submucosal dissections.

Effect of a DASH-Style Diet on Urinary Risk Factors for Kidney Stone Disease
Recruiting
The true capacity for a healthy diet to improve urinary stone risk factors is not well-defined. The objective of this study is to measure the effect of adopting a healthy dietary pattern on kidney stone disease (KSD) risk. The working hypothesis is that a Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH)-style diet will improve 24-hour urine stone risk parameters. The approach to testing this hypothesis will be to randomize participants with KSD to a standardized DASH-style vs. Western-style diet f... Read More

Cannabidiol for Reducing Cigarette Use
Recruiting
The goal of this research is to evaluate the efficacy of cannabidiol (CBD) in reducing cigarette smoking. Although there are safe and effective treatments for smoking cessation, not everyone who attempts smoking cessation is successful, even with these treatments. Relapse rates are high, leaving a need for new approaches. Despite justification to evaluate CBD for this indication, human research on the topic is scant. Larger, more extended studies are warranted and essential. The investigators w... Read More
