Proteinuria in Pre and Post Transplant
Recruiting
Patients with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) who progress rapidly to end stage renal disease (ESRD) are at highest risk for development of recurrence of proteinuria following kidney transplantation. This study will look at serum specimens pre and post transplant, as well as kidney transplant specimens pre and post reperfusion to identify where the defects has occured that results in recurrence of proteinuria in a given kidney transplant.

UAB Alzheimer's Disease Center Core Cohort - Imaging Substudy
Recruiting
The primary objective of this study is to measure the concentration and the regional brain distribution of pathologic amyloid deposition using the PET tracer \[C-11\]PiB in participants in the UAB Alzheimer's Disease Center cohort. Assessment of interactions between race and vascular risk factors, brain amyloid levels measured with \[C-11\]PiB-PET, and cognitive status will be the primary outcome of this imaging study.

UAB Alzheimer's Disease Center Core Cohort - Tau Imaging Substudy
Recruiting
The primary objective of this study is to measure the concentration and the regional brain distribution of pathologic tau deposition using the PET tracer AV-1451 in participants in the UAB-ADC cohort. The amount and distribution of AV-1451 in the brain will be correlated to demographic, clinical, genetic, and biospecimen data acquired through the separate ongoing UAB-ADC study. Assessment of interactions between race and vascular risk factors, brain tau levels measured with AV-1451-PET, and cogn... Read More

Exercise and Nutrition Interventions During Chemotherapy K07
Recruiting
Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a highly prevalent and severe side-effect of taxane chemotherapy, often used to treat breast cancer. Unfortunately there are very limited treatments for CIPN. This is a phase II randomized controlled trial to test the preliminary efficacy of exercise vs. nutrition education on CIPN, to systematically investigate the potential roles of inflammation and interoception, and to obtain data with a more accurate effect size to inform a future study.

Feasibility of Identifying Brain Mechanisms of Qigong and Behavioral Outcomes After Qigong Practice in People With Chronic Low Back Pain
Recruiting
The long-term objective of this investigation is to identify how Qigong affects brain function in brain areas relevant to patients with chronic low back pain (cLBP), thereby setting a foundation from which to perform further clinical research.

Mindfulness & Mechanisms Study
Recruiting
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) are the most common medical condition affecting pregnancy and a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality in the Unites States. HDP also increase lifetime cardiac disease risk in women and infants. Current interventions to prevent HDP are limited, and interventions that do not include medications are minimally effective at preventing HDP. Mindfulness interventions hold promise as a intervention to prevent HDP that does not require pregnant women... Read More

EBV Specific T-Lymphocytes for Treatment of EBV-Positive Lymphoma
Recruiting
This study is for patients that have a type of lymph gland disease called Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin Lymphoma or T/NK-lymphoproliferative disease which has come back or has not gone away after treatment, including the best treatment the investigators know for these diseases. Some patients with Lymphoma or T/NK-lymphoproliferative disease show signs of virus that is sometimes called Epstein Barr virus (EBV) that causes mononucleosis or glandular fever ("mono") before or at the time of their diagnosi...
