The purpose of this research study is to measure the effect of participating in extra arm exercise in addition to standard rehabilitation exercises in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit. This study will compare two different ways to perform the extra arm exercise. The first is following a customized program of hand and arm exercises that will be developed for study participants by an experienced rehabilitation therapist. The second is moving a participants arm back and forth when they are sitting in their wheelchair by using a moveable wheelchair arm rest (Boost). Read Less

This study will be conducted to determine the effect of daily Tetrasol consumption in supporting gut health using assessments of gastrointestinal symptoms (GSRS) and bowel habits (BSS) as primary outcome measures. The investigators also intend to explore fecal and blood biomarkers of intestinal permeability/function, determination of anxiety and stress levels through both validated assessments and saliva and blood biomarkers, establishment of intervention safety and tolerability through comprehensive metabolic panels and overall compliance, explore the effects of the intervention on inflammation and acute stress (Cold Presser Test), blood lipid profiles, and gut microbiota composition as secondary outcomes. The purpose of this study is to find effective physical therapy treatments for individuals who have severe multiple sclerosis. Physical therapy treatments for mild-to-moderate multiple sclerosis exists, however, very limited research has been done for physical therapy for severe multiple sclerosis (MS). In this study 10 participants diagnosed with severe MS will engage in 1-hour physical therapy sessions twice a week for 6 weeks to address limitations in standing, balancing, and bed mobility. The "Gonadal Dysgenesis Tissue Cryopreservation for Fertility Preservation" study is open to a subset of patients with disorders of sex development (DSD) which is associated with the risk of malignancy and a high risk of infertility or sterility. For these patients, experimental gonadal tissue cryopreservation is the only fertility preservation option available. The overall objective of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of gonadal tissue cryopreservation as a method of preserving fertility and/or restoring hormonal function in patients with gonadal dysgenesis who are at risk of decreased fertility potential or malignancy. The aims of this exploratory research project are to customize, deploy and evaluate the preliminary efficacy of a socially assistive robot as a novel approach to motivate and encourage optimal, long-term use of new magnification devices for reading in individuals with vision loss. The goals are to promote patient acceptance, adherence and skills reinforcement to achieve proficiency in the use of the magnifier, in order to attempt to reduce visual disability while performing important daily activities, such as reading tasks. This is a high priority given the increasing prevalence of low vision, paucity of low vision rehabilitation providers, and barriers related to access to care, such as transportation and geography, all of which motivate the development of this complementary approach for the provision of additional support at home by the socially assistive robot. Children referred to pediatric urology clinic for primary nocturnal enuresis will be screened for enrollment. Patients who fail will next be offered therapy with a bedwetting alarm device or a TENS unit as an alternative, and those who chose TENS therapy will be included in the study.The patients will be randomized into three groups of 30 patients each. Group 1 will be the long frequency set at 2 Hz (hertz). Group 2 will be the moderate frequency set at 10 Hz. Group 3 will be the short frequency set 150 Hz. The patients will be provided with a TENS unit and electrode pads and caretakers instructed on how to use the apparatus. The child's TENS unit will be set at a frequency determined by randomization, pulse width of 260 seconds, and an intensity to be determined in the office based upon when the child feels sensitive to the TENS unit. The child will be randomized and will place the electrodes along the posterior tibial nerve on the medial ankle each night before bed time for 15 minutes for a total of 30 days. Diaries including nighttime incontinence episodes and a "wet sheet" scale (dry, damp, wet, soaked) will be recorded, along with any adverse reactions to the TENS unit. Patients will be followed up after one month of TENS with evaluation including the Pediatric Urinary Incontinence Questionnaire, a validated tool for measuring quality of life in children with bladder dysfunction; this questionnaire will be filled out prior to starting TENS treatment in order to compare the effect of treatment on QOL. The data will be collected at different time points (baseline and after 1 month of treatment) for each group by itself and the groups compared against each other using statistical analysis.
