In this prospective study, the investigators will enroll 154 children with arterial lines to determine the accuracy of pulse oximeters in children with darker skin pigmentation. Studies in adults suggest pulse oximeters may overestimate the true level of oxygenation in the blood as measured directly by co-oximetry. However, pediatric data are relatively limited. This study, which is funded by the FDA through the Stanford-UCSF (University of California San Francisco) Clinical Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation (CERSI) Program, will determine if the error/bias is associated with skin pigmentation and whether the error falls outside FDA standards. Many clinicians prescribe antibiotics for patients with acute respiratory infections even when antibiotics will not benefit the patient because the infection is due to a virus. To discourage this type of unnecessary antibiotic use, the investigators will assess whether it is helpful to give clinicians feedback on how often they prescribe antibiotics for respiratory infections in comparison to their peers. The proposed study is a randomized clinical trial. The overarching goal of the study is to apply Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) to reduce tobacco use among youth and young adults (14-21 y/o) in Baltimore City through a mixed-method approach adapted to the needs of youth and young adults. This study has partnered with the American Lung Association's Not On Tobacco (N-O-T) program and aims to deliver tobacco cessation classes. The study will target Baltimore City high schools and colleges, prioritizing facilities in underserved inner-city communities. The proposed research consists of a 2-arm trial where participants from four high schools and two colleges will be randomized to peer-facilitated tobacco cessation classes or self-navigated groups. The trial aims to assess the effectiveness of peer-facilitated tobacco cessation intervention compared to self-navigated tobacco cessation in terms of their success rates (quitting and staying quit). The study's primary hypothesis is that the tobacco cessation rate will be equal to or higher in the peer-facilitated arm than in the self-navigated arms. The secondary hypothesis is that the retention rate will be equal to or higher in the peer-facilitated arm compared to the self-navigated arm. CEASE Youth tobacco cessation program is an eight-week program based on the American Lung Association's (ALA) Not On Tobacco (N-O-T) program. The ALA's N-OT program is acknowledged as an accessible and effective option for teen tobacco cessation. Participants in the peer-facilitated group will be given the evidence-based N-O-T program curriculum and provided with virtual materials, information, and resources by their assigned peer facilitators. Virtual tobacco cessation peer motivation sessions will be offered using the digital online platform Zoom, and the peer facilitators will communicate with the participants in between the classes. The participants in the self-navigated group will receive the same ALA N-O-T program curriculum and complete the eight-week sessions, but it will be self-navigated and without peer facilitations. No peer facilitator will be assigned to this group, and the participants will complete the curriculum by themselves. The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the efficacy of the electromyography component of the company's pelvic health product in a patient population with stress urinary incontinence to treatment with pelvic floor physical therapy. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does treatment with the device under study improve symptoms of stress urinary incontinence as measured by the ICIQ when compared to pelvic floor physical therapy? Does treatment with the device under study combined with pelvic floor physical therapy improve symptoms of stress urinary incontinence as measured by the ICIQ when compared to pelvic floor physical therapy alone and treatment with the device alone? Participants will be given one of three treatments: 1. The devices under study alone 2. The device under study plus 4 weekly visits with a pelvic floor physical therapist 3. Four weekly visits with a physical therapist alone Participants will perform a standardized pelvic floor muscle training program 10 minutes a day, four times a week for 4 weeks. There will be a mid-study check in to assure all devices are functioning appropriately. The Diagnostic Experience of Male Rett Syndrome collects information on the lived experiences of parents or caregivers to boys with Rett Syndrome. Key information examined includes the process of getting a male Rett syndrome diagnosis, your son's systems of care, and your priorities for his health needs. Enrolled participants will complete an online survey with questions about having a son with Rett Syndrome. The Diagnostic Experience of Male Rett Syndrome study is available to parents or caregivers to boys (alive or passed) with Rett Syndrome. Compensation is not provided. Read Less

The study is being conducted to learn why some patients with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) do not respond to a commonly used treatment drug, Finasteride. The hope is to find ways to predict which patients will not respond to Finasteride so that, in the future, these patients can be identified prior to offering this treatment and they can be offered alternative treatment strategies in its place. The aim is to see if noninvasive techniques such as MRI can detect inflammation of the prostate to assist with early detection of those who will and who will not respond to Finasteride. Read Less

This is a randomized, open label study to investigate vasopressin versus phenylephrine as a first line pressor in cardiac surgery. All patients \>18 years of age presenting for coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), valve surgery, or combined CABG and valve surgery will be screened for inclusion. Patients with ejection fraction \< 35%, \> moderate pulmonary hypertension, \> mild right ventricular dysfunction, a planned radial arterial graft, or circulatory arrest will be excluded. Patients will be randomized to receive either vasopressin or phenylephrine as the first line vasopressor during the perioperative period to maintain mean arterial blood pressure \>65 mmhg. Primary outcome is acute kidney injury. Secondary outcomes are 30-day mortality, stroke, myocardial infarction, re-operation, sternal infection, atrial fibrillation, intensive care unit length of stay, and total vasopressor hours. Whole-body vibration (WBV) and treadmill training (TT) are commonly-utilized rehabilitation interventions for children with neuromotor disorders. WBV has been shown in the literature to positively affect gait and lower body spasticity in this population. However, the effects of a single session of WBV are generally transient, lasting between ten minutes and two hours. Thus, it may be necessary to combine WBV with another intervention to reinforce improved movement patterns and maximize its potential benefits. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the addition of a single bout of WBV to a single bout of TT on the lower extremity spasticity and gait parameters of ambulatory children with CP. Many scientific papers have reported that ERP and QEEG biomarkers can be useful in the evaluation of neurological and psychiatric disorders. A study previously conducted with the COGNISION® system has shown how data collected with the system could help detect cognitive deficits in elderly individuals with probable early Alzheimer's disease (Cecchi et al., 2015). Furthermore, normative ranges for ERP and QEEG parameters are sensitive to subject age (see for example van Dinteren et al., 2014). This study will use advanced EEG techniques to measure brain function among healthy adults ages 20 through 59 to use as reference data to compare against individuals that suffer from neurological and psychiatric disorders. QEEG and ERP parameters from the current study will compliment previously collected normative data in healthy subjects 60 years of age and older (Cecchi et al., 2015). Read Less
