This study will examine the impact of virtual reality used in conjunction with sedation compared to sedation alone in patients undergoing watervcooled genicular nerve ablations for chronic knee pain. Depression doubles the risk of death in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD), but so far, there is insufficient evidence that we can reduce the risk of death by treating depression. This study will investigate the cardiac risk markers that are associated with depression symptoms that remain despite treatment, and identify potential targets for their treatment. The results of the study will inform the development of more effective interventions to improve both depression and survival in patients with CHD. Read Less

Suboptimal postpartum health outcomes in the US, including low rates of lactation and high rates of postpartum depression, contribute to high rates of perinatal mortality and morbidity as well as long-term and intergenerational health outcomes. Black birthing parents and infants are at the highest risk, with the lowest rates of lactation and the highest rates of postpartum depression. Yet most interventions to support lactation and postpartum mental health are based on models of care that are unrepresentative of Black and global majority communities. The principal investigator's previous Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) using soft infant carriers to increase parent-infant physical contact was effective in increasing lactation and decreasing postpartum depression in a sample of Latinx postpartum parents. Infant carrying, or "babywearing," is a culturally relevant prevention strategy based on models of parenting representative of Black and global majority communities. In this study, the investigators use strategies from implementation research and clinical effectiveness research to assess an infant carrier intervention within a community-based, culturally specific perinatal home visiting program for Black birthing parents. Our specific aim is to examine the effects of TMS on reward processing during goal-directed behavior. In these experiments the investigators will utilize a scalp-recorded brain oscillation called frontal midline theta that is believed to index the sensitivity of the cingulate cortex to reward feedback. Here the investigators will asked whether this electrophysiological signal can be modulated up or down using TMS while participants engage in decision making tasks, and if so, whether it would affect the encoding of rewards and subsequent choices during task performance. This project aims to establish a network of spine oncology centers dedicated to prospective multicenter research of patients diagnosed with a primary tumor of the spine and will include a comprehensive prospective clinical database which will serve as a shared research platform.
