The goal of this research protocol is to improve mobility in older individuals through advances in wearable assistive devices by focusing on two specific aims. The first aim is to study if targeted ankle resistance gait training improves walking performance in older individuals. This main goal of this study is to improve the detection, classification, monitoring, and treatment of irregular corneas due to keratoconus, warpage, dry eye, scar, stromal dystrophies, and other corneal conditions. The primary goal will be achieved by using optical coherence tomography (OCT) to: 1. Develop an OCT-based system to classify and evaluate corneal-shape irregularities. 2. The goals of this study are to determine the feasibility and efficacy of a brief, single-session cognitive-behavioral intervention for reducing preoperative and postoperative anxiety and for determining satisfaction with the delivery process in pregnant women scheduled for Cesarean delivery due to complications with their pregnancy. This will be done through a combination of psychoeducation and exposure therapy, where the participants will be walked through the steps of a Cesarean delivery in an operating room that mimics where the patient would actually be delivering. The goal of this study is to evaluate the utility and efficacy of an artificial intelligence (AI) model at identifying structures and phases of surgery compared to traditional white light assessment by trained surgeons. Surgeons will perform the procedure in their standard practice, while the AI model analyzes data from the laparoscopic camera. Surgeons will be asked to audibly state when they identify structures and enter different phases of the surgical procedure. The AI will not alter the surgeon's view or be visible to the surgeon, and the surgeon will perform the procedure in the exact same fashion as they typically do. Read Less

The investigators developed a child-friendly mobile application to support accessible, interactive patient/caregiver education about pediatric tonsillectomy. This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate whether the intervention reduces preoperative anxiety, improves patients' confidence and positive coping, improves caregivers' satisfaction and self-efficacy, and reduces call volumes from caregivers to the clinic after surgery compared to current standard care. A greater extent of resection of the contrast-enhancing (CE) tumor part has been associated with improved outcomes in high-grade glioma patients. Recent results suggest that resection of the non-contrast-enhancing (NCE) part might yield even better survival outcomes (supramaximal resection, SMR). Therefore, this study evaluates the efficacy and safety of SMR with and without mapping techniques in HGG patients in terms of survival, functional, neurological, cognitive, and quality of life outcomes. Furthermore, it evaluates which patients benefit the most from SMR, and how they could be identified preoperatively. This study is an international, multicenter, prospective, 2-arm cohort study of observational nature. Consecutive HGG patients will be operated with supramaximal resection or maximal resection at a 1:3 ratio. Primary endpoints are: 1) overall survival and 2) proportion of patients with NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) deterioration at 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months postoperatively. Secondary endpoints are 1) residual CE and NCE tumor volume on postoperative T1-contrast and FLAIR MRI scans 2) progression-free survival; 3) onco-functional outcome, and 4) quality of life at 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months postoperatively.
