Ultrasound Imaging and Spectroscopy as Early Indicators of Locally-Advanced Breast Cancer Response
Recruiting
This work explores the possibility of using ultrasound imaging and spectroscopy as a way of monitoring cell death, hence, tumour response to treatment. The hypothesis here is that it can be used as a way of monitoring early response to cancer treatment and predicting which patients continue on in their therapy to have a complete pathological response as a primary endpoint and tumour size decrease as a secondary endpoint. If this work is successful it could be used in the future early on in a can... Read More

A Tear-based, Lab-developed Test for Breast Cancer for Women With Dense Breast Tissue
Recruiting
Investigation of a tear-based, lab-developed biological test for breast cancer, as a supplemental tool to current screening recommendations for women with dense breast tissue will explore if a tear-based biological test can be used as a support tool in the breast cancer screening protocol for women with dense breast tissue. The test was designed and validated by Namida Lab, Inc., a high complexity Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified lab.

Central Sodium Sensing: Implications for Blood Pressure Regulation
Recruiting
The ability of the brain to sense changing sodium levels in the blood is critical in mediating the neurohumoral responses to hypernatremia, however, the mechanisms underlying sodium sensing in humans is poorly understood. The purpose of this study is to identify key sodium-sensing regions of the human brain in older adults and determine if the Na-K-2Cl co-transporter mediates the neurohumoral response to acute hypernatremia. Completion of this project will increase our understanding of blood pre... Read More

Evaluation of an Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program; Relationship Smarts+ With Lessons From Mind Matters
Recruiting
The goal of this randomized control trial (RCT) is to assess an innovative adolescent pregnancy prevention program among youth that are at the highest risk of adolescent pregnancy, to prevent pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), including HIV/AIDS in the greater Miami area in Florida. The primary research question it aims to answer is: (RQ1a): What is the effect of adding 4.5 hours of Mind Matters trauma-coping skills curriculum to the Relationship Smarts Plus curriculum, on ra... AM for Refractory Achilles Tendinopathy
Recruiting
To evaluate outcomes after use of micronized amniotic membrane to replace or supplement damaged or inadequate integumental tissue in patients with "chronic" insertional or non-insertional Achilles tendinopathy that remains refractory to standard care. Outcomes between a control and treatment group in this pilot study will be used to devise a multi-center study with larger sample size.

Gamma Induction for Alzheimer's Disease
Recruiting
Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid-β (Aβ) plaque buildup and phosphorylated tau (p-tau) in the brain, as well as widespread neurodegeneration. Amyloid-β and tau are proteins that build up in the brain that may contribute to memory problems. The evidence suggests that both amyloid and tau play a critical role in AD and interventions that reliably and safely decrease the intracerebral burden of amyloid or tau could potentially be of marked clinical importance. Currently, therapeu... Read More

There are key differences today in clinical practice regarding perioperative management of post-PCI patients on DAPT undergoing NCS. Moreover, there are significant differences between bridging agents, and improved safety of current-generation DES. Given the significant limitations of current studies a well-designed registry to study current U.S. practice patterns and the bleeding or ischemic risks associated with the various perioperative DAPT management strategies including bridging and no bri...
