Dietary nitrate supplementation, administered in the form of nitrate-rich beetroot juice, has been shown to improve exercise performance and may have more pronounced effects on exercise that requires high-power and high-velocity muscle contraction such as weightlifting and body-mass resisted exercise (i.e, resistance exercise). However, limited data are available that have examined the potential performance enhancing effect of beetroot juice in resistance exercise. Moreover, there is no information on the dose of nitrate required for performance enhancing effects during resistance exercise which limits its widespread use to enhance performance. Therefore, the investigators will assess if supplementing the diet with nitrate-rich beetroot juice impacts resistance exercise performance (e.g., power, velocity), when compared to supplementing the diet with nitrate-depleted beetroot juice (i.e. placebo). The investigators will also investigate the dose-response effect of beetroot juice on resistance exercise performance by providing a low, moderate, and high nitrate dose of concentrated beetroot juice. The results of this study will improve understanding of whether beetroot juice influences resistance exercise performance and will provide insight on whether different doses of beetroot juice influence the efficacy of nitrate supplementation on resistance exercise performance. The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the efficacy, patient preference, and utility of a novel eye shield that utilizes a different adhesive mechanism in comparison to the current standard of care. The aims are to see if this product could be incorporated into postoperative care in the future to improve patient satisfaction and compliance. The study will involve 20 patients during the postoperative timeframe after cataract extraction and intraocular lens placement (CEIOL). These patients will be chosen from the clinic of Dr. Marc Toeteberg who will plan to have both eye surgeries done within 3 months of each other. These patients will be randomized to either control or intervention group. Intervention group will receive our novel eye shield prototype, while control group will receive an Alcon plastic eye shield. Both groups will receive the eye shields after surgery and will be sent home with these eye shields with normal postoperative care directions. Patient will be directed to wear eye shields for 24 hours then at night for first 2 weeks after surgery, while adhering to postoperative eye drops regimen. After successfully healing and passing the postoperative timeframe for the first eye we will proceed to the second arm of the study. Approximately 1-2 months after healing from the first surgery, patient will be scheduled for cataract surgery on the other eye, as is standard of care. After surgery on the second eye the patient will be given the other eye shield than what they received after the first surgery (control groups will receive the novel eye shield and experimental groups will receive the control eye shield). They will proceed to follow identical postoperative protocols after the second surgery. A short quantitative and qualitative questionnaire directly comparing the two eye shield experiences will be provided at the 1 month follow-up after the eye surgery. Read Less

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare lead migration distance and therapeutic response for participants receiving a spinal cord stimulator during the trial period. Of note- scs trial period is a procedure name, not to be confused with this clinical trial study. The main question\[s\] it aims to answer are: * Is there a difference in migration distance and/or rate for those with external leads secured by an anchor device versus and anchor device with suture? * How does participant activity levels during the trial period compare to migration rates? ° Does the temperature, heat index, and humidity during the trial period impact migration rates? Participants will come in for the scs trial procedure as normal. They will be asked to complete an activity survey upon return to the clinic for lead pull after the scs trial. They will also have an additional image upon return to the clinic to document lead position prior to lead pull. Researchers will compare two groups- those with securement via anchor and those with securement via anchor and suture to see if there is an impact on therapeutic effect (percentage of pain relief) form the scs trial. This phase II trial studies how well topical afimoxifene works in treating patients with breast cancer who have undergone radiation therapy on one breast. Topical afimoxifene is a quick-drying medicated gel that may block the growth of breast cancer cells when applied to the breast skin. The purpose of this research is to determine what effect, if any, differences in skin type between women have on the delivery of topical afimoxifene to the breast tissue, and whether radiation affects the delivery of topical afimoxifene to breast tissue. This will be a prospective, registry study of an investigational procedure for at least 12 standard of care visits up to 1 year after subject consents for study. Subjects will be enrolled between 8/1/2018 and 8/1/2023.
