The goals of the program are to help struggling fathers and father figures improve the parent-child relationship, sustain healthy marriages and relationships (and help those who are single identify ways to enter into safe and supportive relationships that may ultimately lead to marriage), and identify and support fathers in their economic stability and employment objectives. These outcomes will be achieved through a series of workshops addressing responsible parenting and marriage and relationships as well as a complement of employment services and comprehensive case management. Additional services needed by participants will be identified and provided either through wraparound programming provided by JFCS or through collaborative agreements with local partner agencies. Primary Objective: This is a study to investigate the feasibility of harvesting, expanding, and selecting T lymphocytes from cancer patients and healthy volunteers. The preliminary objective of this study is aimed at selecting PD-1+ and CTLA4+ T cells and other cellular fractions from peripheral blood of cancer patients and healthy volunteers by using specific conjugated antibodies, evaluating their functional ex vivo anti-tumor cytotoxicity against targeted autologous tumor cells. This study will develop and test a program to deliver PrEP care in underserved communities in Mississippi (MS) through telemedicine, distance-based, clinical care delivered in local community based organizations (CBOs). The intervention will be developed in collaboration with medical specialists at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) and local CBO stakeholders (providers, administrators and patients). Approximately 75 individuals will be recruited from CBOs in MS. Participants will be able to receive PrEP counseling in the CBO and PrEP care via telemedicine from a PrEP specialist at UMMC. Participants will complete three assessments in the six months after enrolling. Our study will provide a wealth of information about PrEP-related outcomes and HIV testing among MS residents living in underserved communities. This is a pilot RCT with equal arms: experimental arm and (wait list) control arm. All participants will be in the early stage of Alzheimer's disease and on stable medication. They will all continue with this medication for their 6 months participation. Experimental group will add weekly training on the experimental device, 5 days a week for 8 weeks. Training will involve therapeutic games aimed primarily at the memory cognitive domain. All participants will receive weekly calls from clinical coordinator and report on medication and overall health. Caregivers will also be enrolled so they support the trials. Read Less

This clinical trial is intended to evaluate the effects of protein intake graded to resistance training volume over a 10-week period on macroscopic skeletal muscle adaptations and body composition. Briefly, all participants will complete a progressive resistance training protocol for 10 weeks, with one group consuming a constant amount of total daily protein (RDA of 0.8g/kg/day) to serve as an active comparator. The alternative group will consume total daily protein and protein supplement in a graded manner designed to increase as overall training volume increases. Protein intake and resistance training protocols are described in full elsewhere. Unilateral cerebral palsy (UCP) is a leading cause of childhood disability. An early brain injury impairs the upper extremity function, bimanual coordination, and impacts the child's independence. The existing therapeutic interventions have higher training doses and modest effect sizes. Thus, there is a critical need to find an effective priming agent to enhance bimanual skill learning in children with UCP. This study aims to determine the effects of a novel priming agent, remote ischemic conditioning (RIC), when paired with intensive bimanual skill training to enhance bimanual skill learning and to augment skill dependent plasticity in children with UCP. Kidney disease is a global health problem, affecting more than 10% of the world's population and more than half of adults over 70 years of age in the United States. Persons with kidney disease are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease, heart failure, physical function decline, and mortality. Kidney scarring is a dominant factor in the development of kidney disease. Our group has evaluated several tests to determine the severity of scarring without requiring kidney biopsies, using MRI imaging scans and evaluating markers of scarring that we can measure in the urine. In this study we will use these measures to evaluate pirfenidone as a promising potential new treatment for patients with kidney disease. Read Less
