Medical Herbs Inhibit Inflammation Directing T Cells to Kill the COVID-19 Virus (COVID)
Recruiting
The human immune system is designed to protect individuals from external sources of infection and internal cell mutation. It works effectively and efficiently until inflammation disturbs its functioning. Once compromised by inflammation, the immune system loses its capacity to recognize antigens and dependably defend the body against disease and illness. When COVID-19 invades humans, it causes an immune-storm (cytokine-storm) that can directly damage the organ(s), leading to death. The virus is... Read More

Topical Timolol: a Comparison of Surgical Outcomes
Recruiting
The use of topical beta-blockers, such as 0.25% timolol, in promoting wound healing is currently emerging in the literature. The investigators will enroll 30 participants in a split scar study who have their skin cancer surgically removed resulting in a linear wound equal to or longer than 4cm. The objective of this randomized study is to determine the safety and efficacy of 0.25% timolol in promoting wound healing in wound closed primarily greater than or equal to 1.5 cm.

Intervention to Improve HIV Care Retention by Addressing Stigma Stigmatized Environments
Recruiting
Retention in care and persistent adherence to antiretroviral therapy are necessary for the successful treatment of HIV infection. HIV-related stigma is a known impediment to the care and health outcomes of people living with HIV. The proposed study will test theory-based interventions designed to manage HIV stigma in order to improve care retention and medication adherence in communities with high-levels of HIV-related stigma.

Are Adductor Canal Blocks With Bupivacaine and Added Magnesium Better at Managing Post-operative Pain Than Bupivacaine and Added Buprenorphine in Patients Undergoing Same-day Discharge Total Knee Arthroplasty?
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to compare the use of magnesium and bupivacaine to buprenorphine and bupivacaine in post-operative adductor canal blocks (ACB); the study will determine if one combination can result in decreased opioid consumption and improved pain management for patients after same-day discharge total knee arthroplasty (TKA) . The investigators will assess whether the addition of magnesium to bupivacaine will decrease visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores, decrease post-operative... Read More

A Phase I/II Trial of Vemurafenib and Metformin to Melanoma Patients
Recruiting
The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety of Vemurafenib in combination with Metformin in melanoma patients. The phase II part of the study will also evaluate the clinical activity of the combined regiment. Based on pre-clinical studies and a phase I trial, the investigators hypothesize that the combination of an FDA-approved non-toxic dose of oral Metformin with Vemurafenib will yield little toxicity and improve clinical outcomes in terms of objective response rates and survival...
