This study plans to learn more about how common drugs prescribed to individuals with schizophrenia contribute to weight gain, as well as how exercise and diet impact appetite and the brain's response to food. In this study, the investigators will be evaluating how participants' brains respond to food images as well as asking questions about their food preferences and intake and clinical symptoms. The investigators may also ask participants to complete an exercise or diet intervention to see how this changes brain responses or food preferences. Read Less

A single-center, randomized, double-blinded placebo-controlled trial is proposed to investigate administration of supraphysiologic doses of ascorbic acid (vitamin C, AA) to patients undergoing liver transplantation. Participants randomized to the intervention group will receive intravenous (IV) AA 1500 mg every 6 hours for 48 hours. Participants randomized to the control group will receive a saline placebo. The primary study outcome will be a change in the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score from baseline to three days after the first dose of drug (dSOFA3). Secondary outcomes will include total vasopressor dose in norepinephrine equivalents, 30-day and 1-year mortality, and serum AA levels. Read Less

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effectiveness of using a combination of pembrolizumab and olaparib when given before and after standard chemoradiation therapy in treating locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Pembrolizumab and olaparib are drugs that are approved for head and neck cancer treatment. However, FDA has not approved the use of these two drugs together in treating head and neck cancer. Focal Epilepsy (FE) patients and healthy controls will wear an actigraph at home for one week and a home sleep study device at home for one night. Participants will then undergo two nights of testing (at least one week apart) at California Sleep Solutions (CSS) in Sacramento, CA. During the overnight stays, participants will have EEG leads placed and possibly a headband. They will undergo cognitive testing before they go to sleep and again in the morning. During one night of testing, sounds will be played in the room (acoustic stimulation). The sounds should not wake the participants. Read Less

Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are highly effective to prevent pregnancy when used for emergency contraception (following unprotected intercourse in the last 3 days), but data are lacking for people who desire an etonogestrel (ENG) contraceptive implant in this situation. This proposal will identify the most effective way to start an implant for emergency contraception using a randomized controlled trial comparing pregnancy risk between those receiving the implant vs. the implant plus oral emergency contraception (EC). Data from this project will inform clinical practice and add another option, the implant, for those desiring a long acting, highly effective contraceptive method when they present for emergency contraception. STRIVE Cardio is a 12-week exercise intervention study with the goal to improve functional fitness and cardiovascular health for women who have completed treatment for non-metastatic endometrial cancer within the last five years and are currently in remission. Measures will include a functional fitness test, carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity, brachial artery flow mediated dilation, and a blood draw. Participants will be provided resistance bands, a dumbbell, and a Fitbit to keep. Participants will be compensated $50 for each of their two in-person visits. Read Less

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of using Fertilo for In vitro maturation (IVM) in participants 18-35 years of age. The main question it aims to answer is whether the use of Fertilo is superior to using Medicult IVM for In vitro maturation. Researchers will compare the number of ongoing pregnancies at 12 weeks gestation for participants in each arm. * Arm 1 participants will have all cumulus oocyte complexes (COCs), or eggs surrounded by helper cells, cultured in Fertilo for 30 hours. * Arm 2 participants will have all cumulus oocyte complexes (COCs), or eggs surrounded by helper cells, cultured in Medicult IVM for 30 hours. This is a single center, open-label, phase II study of venetoclax (ABT-199) added to ibrutinib or acalabrutinib in patients with high-risk CLL who have received at least 12 months of ibrutinib or acalabrutinib monotherapy. The study will estimate the therapeutic efficacy of venetoclax consolidation in patients who have detectable CLL after receiving ibrutinib or acalabrutinib for at least 12 months and who have high risk CLL. DALY II USA is a phase II, multi-center, single arm study to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of zamtocabtagene autoleucel (MB-CART2019.1) in patients with relapsed and/or refractory diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) after receiving at least two lines of therapy. Additional cohorts include subjects with B-cell primary or secondary central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma (PCNSL) and (SCNSL), mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and Richter's transformation (RT) after receiving at least one line of therapy.
