Effect of Snacks on Aging
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to determine if daily consumption of 2 oz of pecans compared to 3.5 oz pretzel snacks for 12 weeks will 1) contribute to the body's ability to protect itself from oxidative damage (caused by oxygen radicals created by ultraviolet (UV) B light) by evaluating skin resistance to UV light irritation, skin fats/oils degradation and "rusting", and oxidative damage to the skin genes; and 2) explore the mechanisms of how snack consumption may affect aging by analyzing blood... Effect of Hepatic Impairment on the Pharmacokinetics of Mirdametinib
Recruiting
The purposes of this study are to determine:
* The pharmacokinetics (the amount of study drug in your blood and how long it takes the body to get rid of it) of the study drug and its metabolites (substances produced as the body breaks down the study drug) in participants with moderate or severe liver function impairment compared to participants with normal liver function (also known as a healthy volunteer). Pharmacokinetics (or PK) is the study of how your body absorbs, breaks down, and removes... Read More

Pathogenesis of Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) Lung Disease
Recruiting
The overall short-term goals of this project include the following: 1) identify the genes that are key to the function of respiratory cilia to protect the normal lung; and 2) the effects of genetic mutations that adversely affect ciliary function and cause primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD), which results in life-shortening lung disease. The long-term goal of this project is to develop better understanding of the underlying genetic variability that adversely modifies ciliary function, and predispo... Read More

Robotic Cytoreduction and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy for Treatment of Gastric Cancer With Limited Peritoneal Metastasis, ROBO-CHIP Study
Recruiting
This phase II clinical trial tests how well robotic cytoreduction and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in treating patients with gastric cancer that has spread to the tissue that lines the wall of the abdominal cavity (peritoneum). Gastric cancer is the third leading cause of cancer related deaths worldwide and peritoneal metastasis are found in 30% of patients at time of diagnosis. Patients with peritoneal metastasis have poor survival rates. Traditional surgery is done with a... Read More

Clinical and Molecular Biomarker Studies in RAI1 (Retinoic Acid-Induced 1) -Related Disorders
Recruiting
Currently, there is no clinically available genetic-based treatment for RAI1 (Retinoic Acid-Induced 1) -related disorders other than symptomatic management and there are no established clinical or molecular biomarkers that could be used as measures for the efficacy of therapy in future treatment studies. Biomarkers are measures of what is happening inside the body, shown by the results of laboratory, imaging or other tests.
Biomarkers can help doctors and scientists diagnose diseases and health... Read More
