The goal of this observational study is to learn how the menstrual cycle affects immune cell activation, recruitment, and recovery responses after resistance exercise in healthy, resistance-trained women aged 18-40. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does the menstrual cycle influence neutrophil recruitment and adhesion after resistance exercise? Does the menstrual cycle affect markers of muscle damage and functional recovery? Researchers will compare three menstrual phases (early follicular, late follicular, and mid-luteal) to see if immune responses and recovery outcomes differ across these phases. Participants will: Complete resistance exercise protocols across three different menstrual cycle phases. Provide blood samples to assess immune cell activation and muscle damage markers. Track sleep, mood, and recovery with questionnaires and wear an accelerometer. Read Less

The purpose of this research is to compare two different approaches for treating patients with achilles tendinopathy: eccentric exercise, stretching and manual therapy VS Electric dry needling, eccentric exercise, stretching and manual therapy. This clinical trial evaluates the impact of a culturally tailored educational video on the perceptions of lung cancer and lung cancer screening in vulnerable communities. Lung cancer is the most common cancer type. African-American communities have a higher rate than any other racial or ethnic group in the United States and accounts for the highest number of deaths among African-Americans. Lung cancer is in the top three causes of cancer death among Asian men and women. Research has shown that low-income, minority and immigrant individuals may be under resourced to make decisions about prevention programs and early detection measures for lung cancer. A culturally tailored educational video may be an effective method to help people learn about lung cancer, susceptibility toward lung cancer and lung cancer screening. This may increase lung cancer screening in vulnerable communities. Read Less

The purpose of this pragmatic, randomized clinical trial designed to test the effectiveness of an integrated care model approach at two different levels of intensity designed to facilitate timely, appropriate care for high-risk Black and Hispanic/Latina birthing people and reduce risk for severe maternal morbidity (SMM). Eligible Black and Hispanic/Latina birthing people (n = 674) will be recruited and randomized to one of two study arms: MOMs High-Touch (MOMs-HT) vs. MOMs Low-Touch (MOMs-LT). The two study arms will be compared on incidence of SMM at labor and delivery (Aim 1), incidence rate of SMM-related hospitalizations at 1-month and 1-year postpartum (Aim 1a), time to preeclampsia diagnosis and initiation of treatment (Aim 2), change in perceived social support domains (Aim 3), and physical activity trajectories (exploratory Aim 4). Mixed methods will also be used to examine facilitators and barriers to implementation (Aim 5). The goal of this study is to observe the impact of suvorexant, sold as BELSOMRA, on brain activity of people who frequently use cannabis. Suvorexant is an FDA-approved medication to treat insomnia. Researchers think that suvorexant may reduce activity in certain parts of the brain associated with cannabis use. Researchers are studying if this medication does affect brain activity in these areas. For this study, participants will be asked to complete four study visits over approximately 14 days. Each study visit will include interviews, questionnaires, and collection of biological samples for laboratory testing. All participants will be asked to take suvorexant, an FDA approved medication for treatment of insomnia, for 14 days. They will complete two one-hour functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) scans: one before starting the study medication and one after 14 days of taking the study medication. MRI is used in typical medical settings and is considered to be safe. Participants will also be asked to complete a short daily survey for approximately 14 days. Read Less

Genicular Artery Embolization for Reducing Pain in Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis: A Pilot Randomized Sham-Controlled Study (SHAM-PAIN) is a NIH-NIAMS funded project designed to assess enrollment feasibility and detect any differences between GAE and a similar sham intervention in reducing KOA-related pain at 3 months as measured by the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) pain subscore. Additionally, this study aims to determine the magnitude of difference in pain response between GAE and sham to adequately power a larger, more definitive randomized sham-controlled trial (RCT). The influence of psychosocial and psychocognitive factors, changes in analgesic use, and conditions of knee joint cartilage and effusion will similarly be explored to determine their impacts on perceived pain response to GAE.
