Women's blood vessel health gets worse after menopause, or "the change of life". Some women exercise less during menopause. Exercise can improve blood vessel health. The investigators want to know if resistance exercise, like lifting weights, can improve blood vessel health in women who are just starting menopause. The investigators also want to know if lifting weights can improve mood, sleep, and quality of life in women going through menopause. The investigators will have two groups of women for this study. One group will lift weights (do resistance exercise) twice per week, and the other group will get emails with information about menopause. The investigators will measure blood vessel health, sleep, mood, and menopause symptoms at the start and the end of this study and compare women who did and did not exercise. Read Less

Over 60% of women aged 65 and older suffer from pain, yet this group is underrepresented in research. Physical activity and percussive massage therapy may help manage pain, but both require consistent engagement, making long-term participation challenging for most people. Self-monitoring could improve adherence to these pain management efforts, but the optimal strategies for self-monitoring remain unknown. This is a a 2x2 factorial randomized controlled trial in older women (N = 108) to determine which behavior(s) should be self-monitored to (1) promote engagement in physical activity and percussive massage therapy and (2) reduce pain. This study design will allow examination on effects of self-monitoring across different behaviors to identify the most effective strategies for improving pain management adherence and reducing pain. This study aims to recruit patients already implanted with Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders to complete tasks assessing parameters of motor output, speech, and swallowing functions, both with and without stimulation. DBS parameters would be adjusted prior to motor testing. Patients would then participate in multiple sessions performing contralateral upper extremity movement tasks measuring movement speed, grip strength, and strength modulation, facial movement, swallowing, and speech tasks. In this study the investigators aim to enroll patients scheduled to undergo deep brain stimulation (DBS) implantation for movement disorders for intra-operative testing. In addition to standard-of-care surgical procedure to implant deep brain stimulation electrode leads, participants will also be stimulated and recorded from cortical areas by a temporary strip electrode (1X6) in the subdural space. The electrodes will be connected to external stimulators and a series of experiments will be performed to assess effects of the DBS on movement quality and electrophysiology measures. Results of this study will elucidate the biological mechanisms related to deep brain stimulation in modulating motor and speech function in patients with abnormal movement disorders. Read Less

Pregnant women with a primary diagnosis of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) (PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5) score \> 33) will be randomized to receive conventional cognitive processing therapy (CPT) (60-min session once/week for 12 weeks) or massed CPT (mCPT) (an intensive schedule of 12 60-min sessions over 5 days, approximately 2-3 sessions per day) via telemedicine, for treatment of PTSD. The research aims will be three-fold: (1) Evaluate the relative efficacy and tolerability of CPT vs. mCPT for treatment of perinatal PTSD and depression; (2) Determine the effect of CPT upon maternal-infant attachment and interaction; (3) Collect pilot data of obstetric and neonatal outcomes among those receiving the two CPT delivery schedules. The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a hybrid Artificial Intelligence-assisted speech therapy model, which combines the use of an AI speech therapist (Jessica) with traditional speech therapy sessions led by a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This study aims to determine whether the hybrid model improves articulation in children more effectively than traditional SLP-only therapy. Over the course of 8 weeks, participants will receive weekly therapy sessions, and those in the hybrid therapy group will also practice with Jessica between sessions. The study will also gather feedback from parents and speech therapists to assess their experiences and satisfaction with treatment. Read Less

The goal of this observational study is to learn about the benefit of using RetroPerc® in obtaining renal access for percutaneous nephrolithotomy. The device is already used in routine clinical practice by urologists around the country. The investigators cancer rehabilitation/recovery program, Strong Survivor, has been designed to be delivered digitally, and while there are many such programs currently available on the internet, especially in the time of COVID-19, the novel feature of this program is the delivery of semi-individualized instruction in real time within a small group setting. The program was designed with physician input and by exercise physiologists and a Doctor of Physical Therapy candidate, all with extensive training in both group and individualized exercise for geriatric and cancer survivor populations. Strong Survivor is 16-week iterative curricular program with three core components: aerobic fitness, balance and mobility, and muscular strength and power. Classes will be held twice per week. The first 4 classes will be deployed in a small class of up to 5 people (first 2 weeks), then one class per week with the small class and one class per week is with a larger class of up to 15 people (weeks 3 and 4). The program is then continued for 12 additional weeks in a larger class using principles and exercises specifically trained during the small group classes. All the exercises offered over the course of the intervention are appropriate for the target population and are standardized so all participants receive the same basic instruction, but level of difficulty is scaled to participant experience, capability, and musculoskeletal limitations. Participants will need to have a minimal adequate space and technology to accommodate this instructional method. Specifically, they will require an internet connected device with a camera that is at least 7 inches square. (tablet size or larger). Additionally, participants' will need to have adequate space to both set up a computer/camera and move around. The minimal acceptable space for this is 6+ feet with an unobstructed view (from a table for instance) of a 2 x 2 open space. All study participants will complete a clinic visit before they join the classes and after the last class to evaluate cardiorespiratory fitness, strength, balance and posture and answer questionnaires about quality of life and system usability.
