Sickle Cell Kidney Biorepository
Recruiting
Kidney disease is a major cause of illness and death in people with sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait. Despite these concerning facts, we do not (1) have an in-depth understanding of how kidney disease starts in sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait, (2) have detailed insights into why kidney disease is worse in people with sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait, (3) have management options that are tailored to treating or preventing kidney disease in people with sickle cell disea... Quantification & Classification of Inflammatory Cells in Uveitis Using OCT
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to determine if it's possible to use a high resolution imaging device called optical coherence tomography to develop an unbiased, standard method of counting and categorizing the various types of cells and proteins found in an eye condition called anterior uveitis. Anterior uveitis is a type of inflammation in the eye that can be caused by many different diseases of the body.

Intravital Microscopy in Human Solid Tumors
Recruiting
This study will investigate the tumor-associated vasculature of patients with solid tumors. The investigators will use a technology known as intravital microscopy (IVM) in order to visualize in real-time the vessels associated with solid tumors. The IVM observations may determine if an individual patient's tumor vessels would be amenable to receiving systemic therapy, based on the functionality of the vessels.

Modified Immune Cells (Autologous Dendritic Cells) and a Vaccine (Prevnar) After High-Dose External Beam Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Unresectable Liver Cancer
Recruiting
This Phase I-II trial studies the safety and efficacy of autologous dendritic cells and a vaccine called Prevnar in treating patients with liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery after undergoing standard high-dose external beam radiotherapy. Autologous dendritic cells are immune cells generated from the patients' own white blood cells that are grown in a special lab and trained to stimulate the immune system to destroy tumor cells. A pneumonia vaccine called Prevnar may also help stimula... Read More

NAUTICAL: Effect of Natriuretic Peptide Augmentation on Cardiometabolic Health in Black Individuals
Recruiting
Black individuals are more likely to have decreased insulin sensitivity which results in a high risk for the development of cardiometabolic disease. The reasons for this are incompletely understood. Natriuretic peptides (NPs) are hormones produced by the heart that play a role in regulating the metabolic health of an individual. Low circulating level of NPs is an important contributor to increased risk for diabetes. The NP levels are relatively lower among Black individuals thus affecting their... Read More

Dendritic Cell Vaccines Against Her2/Her3 and Pembrolizumab for the Treatment of Brain Metastasis From Triple Negative Breast Cancer or HER2+ Breast Cancer
Recruiting
This phase IIa trial studies how well dendritic cell vaccines against Her2/Her3 and pembrolizumab work for the treatment of triple negative breast cancer or HER2+ breast cancer or HER+ Breast cancer that has spread to the brain (brain metastasis). Dendritic cell vaccines work by boosting the immune system (a system in the body that protect against infection) to recognize and destroy the cancer cells. . Pembrolizumab is an "immune checkpoint inhibitor" which is designed to either "unleash" or "en... Read More

A Study to Evaluate the Effect of Genetic Variation on Beta-cell Function During Fasting and Hyperglycemia in Nondiabetics
Recruiting
The GLP-1 receptor (GLP1R) gene is found on the beta cells of the pancreas. Its role is in the control of blood sugar level by enhancing insulin secretion from the pancreas after eating a meal. The purpose of this research study to find out how genetic variations in GLP1R alter insulin secretion, in the fasting state and when blood sugars levels are elevated.
