All Clinical Trials

All patients will be randomly assigned using a computer randomization algorithm to one of two matched cohort groups. Patients will not be advised which group they belong to until after the completion of the study. One group will be treated with autologous bone graft for bone patellar-tendon bone (BTB) Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction (ACLR), and the other group will be treated with commercially available DBM (Demineralized bone matrix) putty. Patients will be enrolled from Banner University. Before and after surgery, patient reported outcomes including visual analog pain scale (VAS), Tegner-Lysholm and Cincinnati ACL Test. The principal investigator will evaluate the patients on subjective criteria such as pain and objective criteria including range of motion, arthritic changes seen on radiographs, infection, and ability to kneel. In this study, xenon MRI will be used to evaluate regional functional consequences of mucus plugs in the lungs of patients with severe asthma. Mucus plugs will be identified using CT imaging, and xenon MRI will be used to evaluate ventilation and gas exchange impairments in regions of the lungs corresponding to the airways downstream of mucus plugs. The goal of this clinical trial is to characterize blood vessel function and oxidative stress (a harmful condition that damages cells and tissues) in emergency medical technicians (EMTs). The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does an overnight shift work in emergency medical technicians reduce blood vessel function and increase oxidative stress? 2. Can supplementing with antioxidants help reduce the negative effects of night shift work in emergency medical technicians? Researchers will compare antioxidants to a placebo (a look-alike substance that contains no drug) to see if antioxidants work in reducing the negative effects of night shift work in emergency medical technicians. Participants will: 1. Report to the lab two separate times following an overnight shift to assess blood vessel functioning and oxidative stress 3. Take an antioxidant supplement or placebo during each night of shift work. Read Less

The goal of this observational study is to learn how the menstrual cycle affects immune cell activation, recruitment, and recovery responses after resistance exercise in healthy, resistance-trained women aged 18-40. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does the menstrual cycle influence neutrophil recruitment and adhesion after resistance exercise? Does the menstrual cycle affect markers of muscle damage and functional recovery? Researchers will compare three menstrual phases (early follicular, late follicular, and mid-luteal) to see if immune responses and recovery outcomes differ across these phases. Participants will: Complete resistance exercise protocols across three different menstrual cycle phases. Provide blood samples to assess immune cell activation and muscle damage markers. Track sleep, mood, and recovery with questionnaires and wear an accelerometer. Read Less

This study will fill a scientific gap in the current knowledge providing data for evaluation of the palatal augmentation prosthesis (PAP) as a therapeutic modality post-surgery. This is a robust scientific randomized prospective clinical trial. Positive outcomes from this study have the potential to dramatically alter the most common issues of oral cancer therapy, namely speech and swallowing functions. Patients will have been diagnosed with a cancer lesion of the tongue requiring surgery and removal of part of the tongue. Smaller cancers of the tongue are sized as T1 or T2. For patients with smaller lesions, a PAP, which can aid in speaking and swallowing, is not routinely provided. Read Less

This is an observational, longitudinal, prospective study for sample collection and evaluation for future therapy or disease progression of chronic hepatitis B and C. Participants will be seen on an annual basis with optional additional visits for up to 10 years and provide samples for research and evaluation of disease progression. In addition, there is a longitudinal sub-study for treatment of hepatitis B that will involve 2 years of treatment with tenofovir alafenamide and blood collections with optional liver biopsies. This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of combination chemotherapy and bevacizumab, and to see how well they work with the NovoTTF-100L(P) system in treating participants with cancer that has come back or does not respond to treatment and has spread to the liver. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as oxaliplatin, leucovorin, fluorouracil, pegylated liposomal doxorubicin hydrochloride, and temsirolimus, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. The NovoTTF-100L(P) system is a portable device that uses electrical fields to stop the growth of tumor cells. Giving combination chemotherapy and monoclonal antibody therapy while using the NovoTTF-100L(P) system may kill more tumor cells. Read Less

There is increasing evidence that obesity is associated with increased urinary oxalate excretion, an important risk factor for calcium oxalate stone formation. By the administration of a controlled low oxalate diet the investigators will estimate endogenous oxalate synthesis in both non-obese and obese non-kidney-stone forming adults. This study seeks to thusly increase the understanding of the relationships between obesity and endogenous oxalate synthesis to serve as a platform to develop novel therapies for stone prevention.
