The purpose of this 8-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled, study is to explore new treatment options for people with depression who have high inflammation and anhedonia. Seventy male and female participants with depression, between 25-55 years of age, with higher levels of inflammation and anhedonia will be randomized to receive L-DOPA or matched placebo over 8 weeks. Participants will complete lab tests, medical and psychiatric assessments, motivation and motor tasks, and MRI scans as part of the study. This phase I trial tests the change in androgen receptor sensitivity, side effects and effectiveness of bipolar androgen therapy, using testosterone, in patients with castration resistant prostate cancer that has spread to other places is the body (metastatic). Bipolar androgen therapy is the regulation of testosterone between castration levels (lower than what would be normally present) and supraphysiological levels (amounts greater than normally found in the body). This may suppress cancer cell growth, which reduces prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels and may delay cancer progression. Read Less

The goal of this survey is to assess several aspects related to patient preferences regarding interventions for alleviating tinnitus through invasive electrical brain stimulation (neuromodulation). This survey covers the acceptance of a surgically-placed brain implant, of its associated risks related to the neurosurgical procedure, usability considerations, and the willingness/ability to pay for such a treatment. Neurosoft Bioelectronics will use the collected patients' feedback and usability preferences data for the development of a novel minimally invasive brain implant aimed at alleviating tinnitus. This phase Ib/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of SX-682 that can be given alone and in combination with nivolumab in treating patients with RAS-Mutated, microsatellite stable (MSS) colorectal cancer that has spread to other places in the body (metastatic) or cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable). SX-682 may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. The purpose of this project is to investigate the effects of 12 weeks of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and resistance training on several domains of health including physical function, cognitive function, mental health, and quality of life in patients who have undergone hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HCT). In addition, the project will determine the effects of 12 weeks of HIIT and resistance training on physical function, caregiver strain, mental health, and caregiver confidence in individuals who are providing care for patients undergoing HCT. This phase I/II trial studies the side effects of interstitial photodynamic therapy following palliative radiotherapy and how well it works in treating patients with inoperable malignant central airway obstruction. Patients who have advanced stage cancer tumors in the lung can often have the breathing passages to the lung partially or completely blocked. These tumors could be due to lung cancer or other cancers (e.g., renal, breast, kidney, etc.) that spread to the lung. This blockage puts the patient at a higher risk for respiratory failure, post-obstructive pneumonia, and prolonged hospitalizations. Treatment for these patients may include bronchoscopic intervention (such as mechanical removal, stenting, laser cauterization, or ballooning), radiation therapy with and without chemotherapy. While palliative x-ray radiotherapy may help in shrinking the tumor, high dose curative radiotherapy that can ablate (a localized, nonsurgical destruction) the tumor also has high risk to cause significant toxicity, including bleeding, abnormal connections or passageways between organs or vessels and abnormal scar tissue that can also produce airway obstruction. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is another possible treatment that can provide local control of the tumor. PDT consists of injecting a light sensitive drug (photosensitizer, PS) into the vein, waiting for the PS to accumulate in the tumor, and then activating it with a red laser light. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays, particles, or radioactive seeds to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. Giving interstitial photodynamic therapy following palliative radiotherapy may improve tumor response and survival without the serious side effects that are associated with the typical high dose curative x-ray radiotherapy alone in patients with malignant central airway obstruction. The purpose of this study is to look at how signals in the brain, body, and behavior relate to anxiety and memory function. This project seeks to develop the CAMERA (Context-Aware Multimodal Ecological Research and Assessment) platform, a state-of-the-art open multimodal hardware/software system for measuring human brain-behavior relationships. The R61 portion of the project is designed to develop the CAMERA platform, which will use multimodal, passive sensor data to predict anxiety-memory state in patients undergoing inpatient monitoring with intracranial electrodes for clinical epilepsy, as well as to build CAMERA's passive data framework and active data framework. The major goal of this study is to evaluate a multi-component, multilevel HIV prevention intervention that targets theoretically-informed and empirically-identified barriers to and facilitators of both HIV testing and PEP/PrEP uptake by combining existing evidence-based and novel evidence-informed components and integrating them into a community-based organization's (CBO) standard of care (SOC) PEP/PrEP navigation program. The evaluation will apply use a 2x2 factorial design to randomize and follow for 18 months 480 PrEP-eligible Black MSM (aged 18-65) living in the NYC area to one of four combinations of interventions. The impact of the social/media campaign, delivered to both geographic (print media) and Black MSM communities (social media) and launched midway through recruitment, will be assessed through assessment of timing and length of exposure as covariates in analysis.
