When mechanical ventilation is initiated, a humidification method should be chosen. There is two methods: heat and humidity exchanger filters or heated humidity. The second method is recognized to be more efficient, but many external factors can influence its performance. Insufficient humidity results in observable problems, such as difficult management of respiratory secretions. The study compare two heated humidifiers already used in ICU. The goal of this clinical trial is to test the impact of a novel dual-task EMG Biofeedback training method for improving balance in individuals living with multiple sclerosis. The main question\[s\] it aims to answer are: * Does dual-task EMG biofeedback training deliver lasting balance benefits up to 3 months following the intervention? * Are the benefits greater than those for participation in traditional balance training exercises? * Do the benefits vary with the severity of disability? Participants will receive either EMG Biofeedback (EMG-BF) training or traditional balance exercise (BAL-EX) training. Both treatments involve three 30-minute sessions of the training every week for 6 weeks (18 sessions). During the sessions, participants in the EMG-BF treatment group will perform targeted exercises using feedback from adhesive (sticker) sensors on their arms and legs. Participants in the BAL-EX treatment group will following an instructor through balance training movements that are traditionally prescribed by physiotherapists to improve balance. Measurements will be taken at the beginning of the study, after six weeks of training, and three months after the end of training. \~80% of ICU survivors experience profound long-term cognitive, physical, and psychiatric impairments known as post-intensive care syndrome (PICS). Caregivers additionally experience similar detrimental psychosocial effects following discharge. Despite this knowledge, follow-up care is almost non-existent. ICU follow-up clinics may mitigate these long-term impacts, but lack evaluation of their effectiveness. This trial will evaluate the effectiveness of ICU follow-up clinics vs. standard-of-care in improving qualitative/clinical outcomes of ICU survivors and caregivers, with those receiving follow-up care hypothesized to have improved outcomes. Preoperative anxiety (PA) affects up to 5 million children in North America each year and is associated with adverse medical, psychological, and behavioral effects. Children who are highly anxious often require more medications during surgical procedures and take longer to recover. While many attempts have been made to reduce PA in children, existing interventions are limited by their expense and time intensive nature. Thus, the current lack of effective and efficient methods of reducing anxiety in children before and after surgery has prompted us to develop and propose to test a new intervention. The investigators have developed a novel,interactive tablet based Virtual Reality program, StoryTelling Medicine (STM), to help reduce anxiety in children undergoing elective surgery, and its associated negative effects. STM is an age appropriate, customizable program to prepare children for complex surgical procedures by guiding them through the hospital settings. The investigators will examine if STM is effective in reducing PA and its adverse effects in children undergoing surgery. If effective, STM has the potential to improve children's and families' surgical experiences, and reduce health problems in the hospital setting and beyond. Read Less

This exploratory study aims to verify the hydrating potential as well as the possible irritant effects of a 14-day hydrating treatment consisting of daily application of serum and cream to the skin of two dry targeted areas. Thirty-three (33) subjects will be enrolled in this study and will be divided into three different treatment groups of 11 subjects each. Apart from the formulation of the cream which varies between the three groups, the subjects will receive the same serum and adhere to the same study plan for fourteen days. Prospective randomized controlled trial comparing low dose Prednisone(or Prednisolone)/Methotrexate combination to standard dose Prednisone(or Prednisolone) in patients diagnosed with acute active clinically manifest cardiac sarcoidosis and not yet treated. The Investigators hypothesize that low dose Prednisone(or Prednisolone)/Methotrexate combination will be as effective as standard dose Prednisone(or Prednisolone), and result in significantly better quality of life and less toxicity than standard dose Prednisone(or Prednisolone). Postoperative pain after VATS surgery is significant and associated with moderate to high post operative morphine requirements, which can cause opioid related side effects and delay postoperative recovery. To reduce this requirement, multimodal analgesia with non opioid medication such as dexmedetomidine and ketamine can be used. These drugs have demonstrated significant opioid-sparing properties after various types of surgeries. However, very little is known about their ability to do so in VATS surgery. Also, their relative opioid-sparing properties have not been compared, and it is not known whether their combined use can lead to an additional opioid-sparing effect. The primary goal of this study will be to determine the impact of a combined intra operative infusion of ketamine and dexmedetomidine on postoperative morphine requirements in patients undergoing elective VATS, compared to both these drugs infused separately. The hypothesis is that this combined infusion will lead to a 30% further reduction in morphine requirements, 24h after surgery, compared to both these drugs infused separately. Read Less

One of the most challenging issues in modern medicine is the current opioid epidemic. Given the association between opioid use after surgery and the development of opioid addiction, an essential goal of the medical community should be to develop strategies aimed at instructing the safe use of opioids. In addition, instructions on how to use non-opioid painkillers and exercises and techniques to better cope with pain can be used to reduce the patients opioid requirements after surgery. This study aims to evaluate the effect of providing an online educational video presentation to patients prior to surgery. This will be a 30 minute video which will provide the study participants with instructions on how best to use their opioid and non-opioid medication for pain and also teach the study participants exercises and techniques to better cope with their pain. This intervention will be used with a view to reduce the amount of opioids used by patients following hip or knee replacement surgery. Participants will be followed during their immediate phase after surgery to determine how much pain killers the participants have used and at six weeks the participants will be asked to return their unused opioids to see how much the participants have used in total. The usual standard of care for patients over 65 diagnosed with glioblastoma ("GBM") or Grade 4 astrocytoma, IDH-mutant is a 3-week course of radiotherapy, with concurrent and adjuvant temozolomide (TMZ). This radiation dose and length of treatment are less than what would be given for younger patients, primarily due to unclear survival benefits from randomized trials. However, survival remains dismal, and may be partially due to the reduced radiation dose. Recent studies investigating this have found that increased radiation dose (to the equivalent of what is normally given over 6 weeks in younger patients) over 3 weeks is well-tolerated and has improved survival rates. Additionally, with the advent of novel technology such as the MR-Linac, adaptive radiotherapy with this regimen using reduced radiation margins is possible. Use of the MR-Linac allows for daily MRI scans to be done prior to treatment, so plans can be adapted to tumour dynamics and anatomical deformations. In this trial, we will examine the outcomes of increased radiation dose, combined with reduced-margin adaptive radiotherapy in this patient population. Read Less
