Prehab Prior to Stem Cell Transplantation in Multiple Myeloma
Recruiting
The primary purpose of this study is to see if individuals with Multiple Myeloma are able and interested in taking part in a tailored exercise program while undergoing their chemotherapy prior to a stem cell transplant. We also hope to learn if this type of program, along with a flexible delivery format (in-person and virtual), helps in maintaining or improving physical fitness, muscle mass and strength, and quality of life during chemotherapy.

The STatus Epilepticus Prognosis Study
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to improve the prognosis of patients who present with Status Epilepticus (SE). In the first part of this study, the investigators aim to find better markers of good and poor outcomes of SE patients while in the ICU. The objective is to measure the levels of brain protein micro-particles that are detectable in blood samples. The investigators seek to determine whether elevated levels of micro-particles in the bloodstream in SE patients can be used to predict the eventual... Read More

Implementation of CBT-I in Cancer Clinics
Recruiting
Insomnia affects 30-60% of cancer patients, thus making it one of the most common disturbances in this population. When untreated, which is the rule rather than the exception, insomnia often becomes chronic. Chronic insomnia is associated with numerous negative consequences (e.g., increased risk for psychological disorders, health care costs). A large body of evidence supports the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) in cancer patients, but CBT-I is still not offered rou... Read More

Virtual Group Social ABCs - Multi-site Randomized Controlled Trial
Recruiting
The goal of this randomized control trial is to test the efficacy of the Social ABCs 6 week, group-based model using a virtual delivery platform. The Social ABCs is a caregiver-mediated early intervention program, aiming to increase child skills in directed, intentional vocalizations, and shared smiling with a primary caregiver for toddlers identified as early signs or a confirmed diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or having related social communication challenges. A positive RCT was p... Read More

Infection Prophylaxis in Total Joint Replacement
Recruiting
Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common cause of disability in older adults worldwide affecting 7% of the global population, or more than 500 million people globally. Total joint replacements (TJR) can help bring relief to those with osteoarthritis when other treatment options are no longer helpful. Infection is the main reason hip and knee replacements "fail". Failure leads to repeat surgeries that are often more complicated and less likely to be successful than the first surgery. Reducing the r... Read More

Clinical Utility of a Genomic Predictor Test on the Management of Cardiorenal Complications of Type 2 Diabetes
Recruiting
The goal of this pragmatic trial is to provide Real World Evidence (RWE) on the impact of the result of a polygenic risk prediction test of cardiorenal complications of T2D, so that more patients at high risk of these complications achieve over an 18 months period, recommended therapeutic targets.
This will be demonstrated as a significant improvement in a composite value including HbA1c or systolic blood pressure (SBP) or albuminuria (UACR), or glomerular filtration rate (GFR) lowering.

Nitrate Mouth Rinse and the Oral Microbiome
Recruiting
The study is aimed to determine if changes to the oral microbiome occur after the use of a nitrate rich mouth rinse. Participants with be asked to use either a controlled (water) mouthrinse once daily for 2 weeks while maintaining normal oral hygiene practices, or use the nitrate rich mouthrinse once daily for 2 weeks.
Primary Outcome measures:
-changes in the composition of the oral microbiome
Secondary Outcome measures
* Blood Pressure

Breast Cancer Locator Guided vs. Wire Localized Partial Mastectomy for Breast Cancer
Recruiting
This prospective, multicenter, 1:1 randomized, controlled trial is designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Breast Cancer Locator (BCL) in subjects with non-palpable invasive breast cancer or ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). Subjects will be randomized to breast conserving surgery (BCS) utilizing either the BCL or wire localization (WL) to guide surgery.

The Role of IL-23-Responsive Immune Cell Subsets in Post-Operative Recurrence in Patients With Crohn's Disease.
Recruiting
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBDs), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease (CD), constitute a group of debilitating chronic diseases that profoundly impact patient quality of life and incurs large costs in terms of treatment and lost productivity. Incidence of IBD is rising worldwide, and there is a pressing clinical need for development of new therapies. Discovery and development of effective therapies to treat IBDs depend first on a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms,... Read More

Neuroblastoma Biology Study
Recruiting
Medical scientists want to find better ways to treat neuroblastoma and to find ways to prevent the tumor from growing back. To do this, they need more information about the characteristics of neuroblastoma cells. Therefore, they want to study samples of neuroblastoma tissues and neuroblastoma and normal cells in the blood and bone marrow that may be related to the growth of neuroblastoma cells. Doctors and other medical scientists also want to find better ways to detect and measure neuroblastoma... Read More
