Individuals who engage in endurance events tend to experience higher levels of stress within the body, mind, and gut, that often lead to impairment of performance. Based on previous studies, CBD has the potential relieve gut distress, and reduce pre-race anxiety thus resulting in an improvement in sport performance. This is a pilot study to test how a growing-up formula (GUF) compares to a common nutritional supplement (NS), which is regularly used to help toddlers (ages 12-36 months) gain weight. This study will look at whether GUF helps to increase solid food intake for children who are thought to be "picky eaters" and see the effects on growth compared with the NS. The iCaRe2 is a multi-institutional resource created and maintained by the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center to collect and manage standardized, multi-dimensional, longitudinal data and biospecimens on consented adult cancer patients, high-risk individuals, and normal controls. The distinct characteristic of the iCaRe2 is its geographical coverage, with a significant percentage of small and rural hospitals and cancer centers. The iCaRe2 advances comprehensive studies of risk factors of cancer development and progression and enables the design of novel strategies for prevention, screening, early detection and personalized treatment of cancer. Centers with expertise in cancer epidemiology, genetics, biology, early detection, and patient care can collaborate by using the iCaRe2 as a platform for cohort and population studies. Read Less

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the use of incentives in pediatric patients requiring medical procedures. The main questions it aims to answer are: Are incentives effective at reducing pediatric anxiety for medical procedures? What is the best way to use incentives with pediatric populations requiring medical procedures? Participants will be provided support in preparation for their procedure and during the procedure by a child life specialist and might receive an incentive prize after their procedure. Participants distress levels during the procedure will be observed and they will be asked to rate their anxiety on a visual analog scale. Researchers will compare the anxiety of those who did or did not receive an incentive after their procedure to see if incentives reduced procedural anxiety. Read Less

The purpose of this study is to determine the ability of electrical impedance tomography (EIT) to identify structural and functional physiological changes that occur with disease progression in cystic fibrosis patients. The investigators also aim to determine whether EIT can serve as an alternative for CT to identify regions of air trapping and consolidation, whether EIT can provide clinically useful information about response to treatment for an acute PE, and whether EIT can provide longitudinal information about structural changes in the lung. Age-related hearing loss, presbycusis, affects up to 50% of American adults. There are two main causes for presbycusis: 1) Progressive death of hair cells in the inner ear, and 2) Central hearing loss, or the reduced ability to decipher the sound source of interest from other competing sounds in a multi-source complex environment. The first cause is better understood and treatment options, such as hearing aids and cochlear implants, are available. However, central hearing loss is not as well understood and there is not a treatment available at this time. This study aims to advance our understanding of central hearing loss by evaluating the abilities of younger and older listeners in two primary outcome measures: to 1) neurologically process sound stimuli and 2) focus on conversational speech in the presence of spatially-separated competing background noise. A test using Auditory Brainstem Responses (ABR) will be used to evaluate the brain's response to clicking sounds. This study will assess all waveform data, but will focus particularly on wave III. Sentence in noise tests will be used to assess each subject's ability to process speech in noisy situations. Both the ABR and sentence in noise tests are non-invasive and are commonly used in audiology practices to diagnosis and treat a variety of audiological pathologies. Read Less

The purpose of this randomized crossover trial is determine whether acute consumption of blueberries with different proteins from plants (hemp or pea) or dairy (whey) impact the absorption of blueberry phytochemicals, which could impact the health benefits of blueberries. A secondary purpose is to understand the role that the gut microbiome may play, as well as the impact on urine polyphenol metabolites and potential implications for cardiometabolic health. This study is a type-1 hybrid effectiveness-implementation RCT comparing a novel family-inclusive childhood obesity treatment program, the "Healthy Living Program" (HeLP), to a protocol that enhances usual primary care to deliver Recommended Treatment of Obesity in Primary Care (RTOP). Children with obesity and their families will be referred to the study by primary care providers and randomized to HeLP or RTOP. The clinical setting is a practice-based research network serving majority Hispanic and Medicaid-insured populations. The intensive phase and booster sessions of HeLP will take place at recreation centers located near the clinics and will be led by health educators employed by the clinics. Cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive hemp derivative, is an attractive therapeutic agent, and is most supported by the scientific community as an antiepileptic. Additionally, CBD is also associated with claims related to improvements in overall health, pain, anxiety, depression, and sleep; however, the scientific evidence is lacking. The overarching goal of this investigation is to determine the effects of a 4-week CBD intervention on measures of overall health, pain, anxiety, depression, and sleep in a population of US veterans. Primary aims will explore the effects of 4 weeks of CBD on pain, anxiety, and depression.
